Review- The Guardian Angels by Rohit Gore

Summary-

The Guardian Angels is the epic and tumultuous story of two star-crossed lovers who weren’t just soul-mates but were also each other’s protectors.

The fates of Adi Mehta and Radha Deodhar are deeply entwined when within days of their first rendezvous they save each other’s lives.

Despite their vast sociopolitical differences, they are drawn to an uncertain future fraught with contrasting ambitions, personas and ideologies.

. . . he is the son of a billionaire, she is the daughter of a socialist.
. . . he is quiet and unassuming, she is a firebrand and spirited.

However, the unexplained phenomena ties them forever – whenever they are in peril, they are each other’s only saviors.

Over the following two decades Adi and Radha live through hope and despair, joy and sadness, and try to decipher their relationship. As the truth of their bond is revealed, they must confront the true nature of love, and ultimately, their destinies.

Review-

I was super excited to read The Guardian Angels since the first moment I saw the cover and read the summary of the book. Starcrossed lovers? Count me in! I love forbidden romances of any and all kinds and Aditya and Radha's story seemed to fit in perfectly. I really enjoyed reading The Guardian Angels but I cannot say that it left me satisfied at the end.

Adi Mehta is the son of a billionaire. He has always been an outcast because of his social status. Adding to that is his shy nature which makes him seem always out of reach to the others. Except to Radha, of course. I really liked Adi. He was a genuinely nice guy but he failed to understand Radha completely. But I guess that was a part of the pull which binds them together.

Then there's Radha. She is fiery and passionate about life and her beliefs. Willing to fight where she think injustice has been rendered. She wants to bring about a change in the country. Radha was not a typical heroine. She was no damsel in distress and that's what I loved about her.

We get to see the lives of Adi and Radha through two decades. It is easy to see how they always gravitate towards each other in their thoughts. What starts as friendship in their childhood soon becomes something more which neither of them are ready to put a name to. I loved the banter between Adi and Radha. There was this passion in their exchange. There was no Adi without Radha and vice versa.

Rohit Gore's writing style is easy and engaging. It was very easy to fly through the pages. The only thing which bothers me is that I wanted Adi and Radha to fight harder for each other. They gave up too easily but I guess you cannot avoid the inevitable. Still, I think it would have been worth it. And so very cryptically, I'm going to end my review here. Overall, The Guardian Angels was a very good read.

  2. I love reading about forbidden love and the whole concept of starcrossed love sounds really intriguing. Somehow characters sound different and that's always a good thing. Too bad it wasn't more fierce and I love characters fighting for love. Great review Janhvi :)

  3. yep,the word Star Crossed Lovers made me buy the book... I think the book was pretty realistic... I mean I think I would have done the same in Radha's place... But Like J said, on one hand I did hope the characters would fight harder for each oda.. But overall its a good read :)
