Review- The Mistake by Elle Kennedy

Summary-

He’s a player in more ways than one…

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

Review-

I had thoroughly enjoyed myself when I read The Deal by Elle Kennedy which is the first book in the Off Campus series. So I was eagerly waiting for The Mistake which is Logan's story. I have to say I thoroghly enjoyed The Mistake. It was cute read filled with humor and friendship. The Mistake was a fantastic new adult read.

Logan is a hockey star. He can get any girl he wants and he usually does especially if it means that he gets to forget that he is infatuated with his best friend's girl. I really liked Logan. He tried not to be a total asshole all the time but he had many issues he was dealing with including an alcoholic father. I liked how Logan and Grace got to know each other and how Logan pursues Grace after he messes up big time.

Grace was a very sweet girl. She was shy but determined to be more open and outgoing. When she becomes friends with Logan unexpectedly she thinks they have something until he messes up. I loved how Grace took her time with getting over her hurt. When she comes back after summer she is ready to leave behind the babbling girl she was and be more confident. She really made Logan work for it.

I loved the chemistry Logan and Grace shared. They were obviously very attracted to each other but they also shared a strong bond of friendship and they genuinely cared about each other. I liked all their conversations and love for action movies. Logan and Grace were both very real and by the end of the book they both grow up so much.

I also loved seeing Hannah and Garrett. I  really enjoy all the scenes between the four room mates and I'm really eager to read Dean and Tuck's stories. Dean is next. Yay! All in all The Mistake was a very cute read which totally made me laugh out loud a few times. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys new adult.

Review- Identity Theft by Laura Lee

Goodreads Summary:

When a bored employee in the office of a rock star decides to flirt with a fan online in the guise of his boss, he sets off a chain of events he cannot control.

REVIEW:

*NOTE: We (The Readdicts) received a copy of Identity Theft by Laura Lee in exchange for an honest review. We thank Laura Lee for the book!
I admire Laura Lee's poetic and slightly philosophical writing, so when the author contacted me to read her novel, Identity Theft, I didn't see any reason to let it pass. Even though the story seemed like something different coming from the author, I was looking forward to the book and the most important part is that it didn't disappoint at all.
Identity Theft seems like an amalgamation of all those cool chick-lit books I like to read once in a while, but it is much more than just chick-lit or a contemporary for that matter. Even though the book predominantly falls under these two genres, the subtle importance given to basic human personality and the immense involvement of psychology makes me think that there's really much more to the book than just a light read. And perhaps it's exactly all that that makes it a true Laura Lee book.
Identity Theft is the story of three people who find themselves at a crossroads when their identities are mistaken and played with. Blast, whose band name is the same as his stage name, is a sexy British rockstar for whom making music is like breathing and his real self, Ollie, is a simple, sensitive and sweet guy who just wants to lead a normal, ordinary and regular life. Ethan is a very regular, kind of average guy who works for Blast and is given the job of taking care of Blast's social media networking and he takes it upon himself to reply to the tons of fan mail that's sent to Blast, making him wonder what Blast has that he doesn't. Candi is like any other woman- she wants to have a secured and stable life and her huge crush on Blast makes her write to him and she's over the moon when she actually hears back from her most favourite musician.
Each of the three characters have been absolutely well portrayed and their distinct personalities have been explained in detail so much so that the reader even gets to read from each of their point of view in third person, although the pattern in which the reader gets in each of their head isn't really fixed. The writing is very simple and well put down which makes it an easy read.
I consider myself lucky to have read both the endings that Laura Lee came up with for Identity Theft and I know which ending I like more since it's a kind of ending that, even though it doesn't build anything in concrete, it leaves each of the characters with a much needed closure. This book is a very amusing and highly enjoyable read that isn't just something you read and forget because it is made up of various phenomena that open up some serious topics for discussion. For me, in general, it was a journey I took with Blast, Ethan and Candi and I enjoyed every moment I spent with them.

Excerpt: Chapter 1

“What the hell is that?” The new patient in the ER had an erection almost the size of a man’s arm. It tented the sheet covering him, and I thanked my lucky stars that I wasn’t on the front lines in the triage area. I could still hear the giggles from behind a curtain. “This one’s yours, Jules. I’m not touching that with a ten-foot pole.” My co-worker and best friend’s humor didn’t escape me. The two of us were working the graveyard shift, and from the look of it, Chris was not going to help. In fact, bringing all the nurses’ attention to the patient may have only hindered any progress. Fortunately, she decided to leave. “I’m pretty sure I have a patient who needs an enema. I think I’d rather work that end than the one you’ll be working on.” I highly doubted that. Chris worked the male nurses better than strippers did metal poles. “Everybody out!” I pointed my finger to the door, but no one moved. Their heads were peeking one over another, trying to catch a glimpse of the patient’s prominent injury. My mind was already running amok as I wondered what the heck was underneath that sheet. “This is not Grey’s Anatomy, people, so unless you’re helping I don’t want to see you.” They finally scattered back to their duties. On Saturday nights, or should I say Sunday mornings, we usually got the weekend party leftovers, and most of our patients were passed out drunk, stoned, or heavily medicated. Comprehension in any of those states was minimal. This guy on the bed in front of me was totally out. His face was covered in paint – green, red, yellow, blue, you name it and it was there. What kind of a party had he gone to? I peeled back the sheets with hesitation. The rest of his body was painted in the same mix of colors as his face. My gaze rested over his hip, where underneath the smeared paint I could make out the black lines of a tattoo, though its shape remained mysterious. I wondered whether the patient had any clothes on when he came in. I sighed and removed the sheet down to his knees. The nurse beside me had her mouth completely open and was focused on what first appeared to be a cannon – a huge cannon made of a cylinder that imprisoned the patient’s enlarged penis.
“Holy crap!” I said under my breath. How do you get your cock stuck in a pump?

Review- Chase Me by Tessa Bailey

Summary-

College drop-out, Roxy Cumberland, moved to New York with dreams of becoming an actress, but her dwindling bank account is quickly putting the kibosh on that fantasy. To make some quick cash, she signs up to perform singing telegrams. Her first customer is a gorgeous, cocky Manhattan trust-funder if she ever laid eyes on one. And what could be more humiliating than singing an ode to his junk, courtesy of his last one night stand? Maybe the fact that she’s dressed in a giant, pink bunny costume...

After a night out to celebrate winning his last case, lawyer Louis McNally II isn’t prepared for the pounding in his head or the rabbit serenading him from the front door. But the sassy wit and sexy voice of the girl behind the mask intrigues him, and one look at her stunning face—followed by a mind-blowing kiss against his doorjamb—leaves Louis wanting more.

Roxy doesn’t need a spoiled rich boy who’s had everything in life handed to him on a Tiffany platter. But there’s more to Louis than his sexy surface and he’s determined to make Roxy see it...even if it means chasing her all over NYC.

Review-

Okay, its a fact. I will read anything Tessa Bailey writes! Therefore, when Chase Me came out I got right to it. Chase Me is a new adult read and though it did have a few steamy scenes, they were toned down a little bit. This book had more of a cute vibe going on and I really did like it.

Roxy is a college drop out. She's trying her best to make her mark as an actress. She has had a lot of failures and is obviously going through a rough patch, but she knows she just has to push on. I really liked Roxy. She was a very realistic person who had to make ends meet. When she signs up to perform a singing telegram in a bunny costume she doesn't expect to find the very hot Louis.

Louis is a lawyer who works hard and plays harder. He is completely blown away by the girl on his door step dressed as a bunny and all he wants to do is know more about her. I loved how completely smitten Louis was by Roxy. They shared great banter and an even greater kiss and Louis is hooked. I loved how determined Louis was to pursue Roxy.

Roxy and Louis shared great chemistry. I loved all their conversations. Roxy and Louis essentially came from two different worlds. Roxy was struggling to make ends meet whereas Louis was working as a successful lawyer. Their financial differences were evident but that never stopped Louis even though it made insecurities pop up in Roxy.

I also loved Roxy's new room mates and Louis' friends. I am really hoping they pair up with each other because each of them is so vastly different from the other. It would make great combinations with a good dose of opposites attract. With minimum angst and sweet romance Chase Me was a good read.

Blog Tour + Review + Giveaway- Unrequited by Jen Fredrick

Meet Finn & Winter in the newest addition to the Woodlands Series!
NOW AVAILABLE!
Special Price of Only $2.99

Summary-

Winter Donovan loves two things: her sister and her sister's ex boyfriend. She's spent her whole life doing the right thing except that one time, that night when Finn O'Malley looked hollowed out by his father's death. Then she did something very wrong that felt terribly right.

Finn can't stop thinking about Winter and the night and he'll do anything to make her a permanent part of his life, even if it means separating Winter from the only family she has.

Their love was supposed to be unrequited but one grief stricken guy and one girl with too big of a heart results in disastrous consequences.

Review-

I have really enjoyed all the books in the Woodlands series by Jen Fredrick till date so I was really looking forward to seeing Finn's book. He has been an interesting character since the series started and I have wanted to know his story since some time now. I am happy to say Unrequited did not disappoint and was a really good read.

Let's start with Winter. Winter has been in love with Finn since a long time. He is her sister's ex and she knows nothing can come of her attraction to him but she still loves him. I genuinely liked Winter. She was sweet and even though she was the younger sibling she always took care of her sister. I loved how protective she was and how she always wanted to help Finn.

Finn knows Winter is forbidden. He knows she had a crush on him when they were young but now Winter is all grown up and what he feels for her is very real. I loved how determined Finn was where Winter was concerned. He was always there for her, trying to be what she needed even when he had issues of his own to deal with. Finn did have his insecurities as well but he has definitely come a long way.

I loved the connection Finn and Winter shared. Yes, they had combustible chemistry but they also shared a friendship. Both Finn and Winter had things to deal with in life and all along they wanted to be with each other even if there were people trying to keep them apart. I liked how Finn and Winter both came out strong by the end of it.

The parts I liked the best about this book were of course, when we got meet the remaining crew. I loved seeing Bo and AnnMarie and Noah and Grace. I REALLY hope Adam gets his book next and I was even more intrigued by Mal. Unrequited was a good new adult read.

*Note: A copy of this book was provided by TRSOR promotions via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. We thank them.
