"A worthy addition to a sexy series." -- Publishers Weekly

Summary-

Especially when it's Aiden O'Malley, one of the most dangerous men in Boston, who offers her a chance for justice. The only catch: she'll have to pretend to be his fiancée for his plan to work.

Aiden can't afford to let anyone see the man behind the mask. To run the O'Malley empire, he has to be cool and controlled at all times. But the moment he meets Charlie, they're playing with fire. Her slightest touch is enough to send him over the edge. At first their "engagement" was a way to eliminate his enemies. Now he'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe-- even if he has to destroy his own family to do it.

Review-

Undercover Attraction by Katee Robert is the fifth book in the O'Malley series. I have been following this series right from the beginning and I have to say that I am invested in most of the characters and their lives. This series follows the O'Malley siblings as they navigate through their love lives while keeping a hold on their empire. The O'Malleys are basically a crime family who are trying their best not to lose control of Boston.

Undercover Attraction follows the story of Aiden and Charlie. Aiden is the head of the O'Malley empire. He is now the head of the family and has to make decisions which suit the family best. We'd met Aiden in the previous books and he totally came off as uncaring. But here we get to see that the stoicism is just a facade. He is trying to make the best out of a horrible situation but he knows he is putting a strain on the bonds with his siblings. While Aiden was not my favourite, I understood him more clearly in this book.

Then we have Charlie. Charlie is an ex-cop. She was betrayed by he fellow officers and now even her father doesn't believe in her/ When Aiden comes up with a proposal which has Charlie pretending to be his fiance she is surprised to say the least. But Charlie has her own motives. I liked Charlie. She was a strong woman and she knew what she was doing. She actually saw beneath Aiden's mask and she couldn't help but fall for him.

Charlie and Aiden's relationship starts off as a business relationship but there is no denying the attraction between them. I liked how honest they were with each other and there was no unnecessary coyness. They were both responsible adults who wanted to take care of their family and loved ones.

I also really liked how Charlie made an effort to reach out to Aiden's siblings to repair his relationship with them. I loved seeing all the previous couples and how they were doing. This book also moves Keira and Dimitri's plot forward and I am really looking forward to their book. More than I expected at first. Undercover Attraction was a good read for me.

Review- Can't Let Go by Gena Showalter

New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter is back with a sizzling Original Heartbreakers tale about an icy war vet and the only woman capable of melting him…

To Jude, Ryanne is off limits. And yet the beautiful bartender who serves alcohol to potential motorists tempts him like no other. When a rival bar threatens her livelihood, and her life, he can’t turn away.  She triggers something in him he thought long buried, and he’s determined to protect her, whatever the cost.

Review-

Let me start off by saying that I have a love hate relationship with this series. I genuinely disliked the first two books in the Original Heartbreakers series and I decided not to continue with the series. Fast forward to a few years later and I decided to give it another shot by reading Can't Hardly Breathe. I actually found the new set of friends to be much better than the previous ones so I decided to read Can't Let Go.

So the first disclaimer is that though this is a part of a series Can't Let Go can be read as a complete stand alone. Some characters and friends to reappear and things are set for the next book but it is easy to follow. This is the story of Jude and Ryanne. Jude has been trying his hardest to ignore Ryanne for the longest time. He has already lost way too much in his short lifetime and except for his two best friends he is not willing to invest emotions in anyone.

Ryanne on the other hand has had a mother who went from men to men at the speed of lightning. She doesn't trust men and just wants to run her bar successfully. Ryanne wants to travel the world and see places. What she doesn't expect is to be pulled in by Jude's damaged soul. I liked Ryanne she had a nice personality but I did find her to be childish at times.

Ryanna and Jude had chemistry. There is no doubt about that. The only issue I had- and I've found this happening more and more with Gena Showalter's books -is that I found both the hero and heroine to be quite immature at times. They each changed their mind about the other at the drop of a hat and were never quite sure of what they wanted from the other. The constant yes or no got irritating for me.

Gena Showalter writes really well and it shows. I really liked visiting Strawberry Valley again and meeting all its residents. I also genuinely can't wait for Brock and Lyndie's story which is next. I think they both truly deserve a happily ever after. So all in all while I liked Can't Let Go it wasn't my favourite read.

Review-

I actually picked up the first book in the Forbidden Hearts series on a whim. I was just extremely curious to see what the story would be like and then I kicked myself for not having picked up an Alisha Rai book before. Wrong to Need You is the second book in the series but each book follows a different couple and can easily be read as a stand alone. I very much enjoyed Wrong to Need You.

This is the story of Sadia and Jackson. Let's start with Jackson. Jackson's family was once upon a time a well known family who owned a grocery chain. But after unforeseen events they lost everything. Jackson was accused of a crime he did not commit and so he fled. But now he's back and still hopelessly in love with his brother's widow. I found Jackson's character to be unique. He was a strong and silent guy and he really was very shy.

Then we have Sadia. Sadia Ahmed is trying to cope after he husband's death. She's trying to be the perfect mother to her son and the perfect sister. I really liked Sadia. She was a strong woman who was trying to juggle multiple things at once. She only wanted what was best for her son. When Jackson comes back to town Sadia wants her best friend back. But Jackson's changed and so has she.

I loved Jackson and Sadia together. They were best friends since their childhood and even though years had passed they still understood each other effortlessly. The best part about Alisha Rai's books is that she writes diverse characters seamlessly. I loved seeing Jackson's Asian heritage along with Sadia's Muslim one. The relationship was obviously at the forefront but family ties were given just as much importance.

This was definitely a slow burn romance. Sadia and Jackson both had healing to do. I loved how patient and kind Jackson was with Sadia. Sadia's kid was super cute too. I loved seeing Nicholas and Livvy finally being happy together and I cannot wait for Evie's book next. If you enjoy intense friends to lovers romances with loads of family drama thrown in definitely give Wrong to Need You a shot.

Review- An Ex for Christmas by Lauren Layne

Review-

An Ex for Christmas by Lauren Layne is a stand alone holiday novel. I usually very much enjoy Lauren Layne books. They are quick reads filled with witty banter and sweet romance. I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of holiday romances. Like, there's nothing wrong with them. I'm just not super into them. Or maybe the fact is that I haven't read that many of them to have a definite opinion on them. But I did enjoy An Ex for Christmas.

This is the story of Kelly. Our heroine is a bit of the superstitious sort and when a psychic tells her that she has already met the love of her life, Kelly assumes that it's one of her exes. And so begins her quest to locate The One right before Christmas. I liked Kelly. She was a sweet and quirky heroine with exactly the right amount of cuteness. Yes, she was a bit superstitious at times but she genuinely wanted to find her one true love.

On her mission to find the right guy the one person Kelly has with her all along is Mark, her best friend. Problem is, suddenly Kelly is feeling the sparks with Mark but she doesn't want to lose her best friend. I liked Mark. He was a stand up guy who truly cared about Kelly. Mark actually wants more with Kelly but the timing was never right. Now he has a chance and he's not going to let go of it.

Mark and Kelly made for a cute pair. They had been best friends all their lives and they basically knew every nuance of each other's personality. Yes, they've both been with numerous other people through the course of years but the on stable pillar in their life has always been the friendship. I loved how Kelly and Mark were always there for each other.

Lauren Layne truly sets the holiday mood with An Ex for Christmas. Kelly loves Christmas and it shows- whether it's from her decorating skills or from the Christmas music she plays all the time. It was really quite adorable to see the cheerful and bubbly Kelly with stoic Mark. If you are a fan of cozy holiday romances I'd recommend An Ex for Christmas.

Review-

I was beyond excited to start Cherish Hard by Nalini Singh. I love everything Nalini Singh writes and I basically a huge fan girl where her books are concerned. Cherish Hard marks the beginning of a new series in her contemporary romance series. I was so happy to finally see all the Bishop brothers together and I cannot wait for every single one of them to get their happy ever afters.

So this is the story of Sailor and Isa. Let's start with Sailor. Sailor was the star of the book. He is actually a gardener by profession and he dreams of doing big things. Sailor had a rough childhood with his father leaving them broke and abandoning them. Which makes him even determined to make something of himself. When Sailor meets Isa though he falls head over heels. I have to reiterate that I loved Sailor. He was the perfect alpha male with the right amount of possessiveness and protectiveness. He was a great brother and son.

Then we have Isa. Isa may be one of the sweetest heroines I've read till date. Isa is actually a teacher and she enjoys her job. Isa's mother on the other hand is the CEO of a large craft company and she wants Isa to take over. Isa was such a sweetheart. She was passionate about teaching and all she wanted in life was a steady family to love. She is wildly attracted to Sailor but she doesn't want to get in the way of his dreams.

Nalini Singh does a great job of not falling for cliches in this book. In fact reading about a curvy redhead heroine who is five years older than the hero was such a refreshing change. Sailor and Isa have amazing chemistry and what makes the book is their willingness to make their relationship work. Sailor and Isa were both very mature and two of my favourite characters.

What I love even more about Nalini Singh is how she writes about supporting characters. I adored Isa's bestie Nayna. Nayna and Raj's sub plot was super cute. I loved Sailor's siblings of course and I cannot wait for Jake and Danny's story. All in all if you enjoy contemporary romances I would highly recommend you give Cherish Hard a try. They are vastly different from her paranormals but just as amazing.

Excerpt from CHERISH HARD by
Nalini Singh

ÍSA WONDERED WHAT THE HELL she was doing.
Being a devil woman, she reminded herself. Having fun for a change. Not being a grandma at twenty-eight years of age.
Still, she couldn’t stop second-guessing herself as Sailor led her out of the house through a side entrance that opened out into a small, manicured garden. “I’ll have to take off my heels,” she whispered when she saw the pebbled path snaking through the garden.
“Want a piggyback ride?” A playful grin. “I promise not to molest your thighs.”
Goose bumps broke out over Ísa’s skin, her nipples tight. Reckless as she was feeling tonight, she might just have taken him up on his offer if she hadn’t been worried her damn dress would split in two. “Maybe when we’re naked,” she said instead, Devil Ísa in full flower.
Groaning, he doubled over as if she’d punched him.
Her lips twitching despite the melting sexual heat liquefying her bones, she leaned down to slip off her heels.
Sailor waited, his hand firm around hers, until she was done. Taking the heels from her, he carried them in his other hand as Ísa padded beside him on the grass that lay on this side of the pebbled path. The path ended at a weathered wooden gate, which, when opened, put them at the top of a narrow walkway that led down onto a beach Ísa couldn’t yet see but could hear.
Her heart crashed in time with the waves as they made their way down to the beach while the mansion behind them pulsed with light and music. But she didn’t turn and run away, she didn’t stop and talk herself out of it, she didn’t attempt to be a sensible adult. She followed a gorgeous, blue-eyed man down a dirt pathway to an effectively private beach.
The sand that had been tracked onto the path was gritty under her feet, the air coming off the sea cool but not cold.
“The water’s going to be icy, isn’t it?” she whispered to his broad back.
“Don’t worry, spitfire. I’ll keep you warm,” was the deep-voiced response. “Stop here.” Jumping down to the beach, he reached up to grab her by the waist, swinging her down as if she were a featherweight.
Something fluffy and mushy came to life inside Ísa. “Here?”
Shaking his head, he said, “Raj told me there’s like a little cove area—not a proper cove, but caused by— There.”
Ísa saw it at once. A huge tree had fallen into the water at some point and smashed up against some rocks where it appeared to be stuck. Between the jutting rocks on either side and the fallen trunk was a naturally created pool. The water within it was pretty calm, and it looked as if they could get to it by clambering over some rocks that didn’t appear too sharp or slippery.
Of course, she’d be walking over those rocks naked.
Ísa looked up at the moon. Imagined it shining on the stark white of her body. Gulped. “Will you close your eyes while I go in the water?” Even Devil Ísa wasn’t up for blinding him with her glow-in-the-dark form.
A glance back. “What’re you going to bribe me with?”
Ísa scowled. “Not pushing you into the water right now.” It was a toothless threat given his muscles and her lack of them.
Rubbing his jaw, he said, “Three tongue kisses. That’s my price, and I’m not budging.”
Ísa wanted to pounce on him all over again. “Two,” she countered.
“Nuh-uh. Three. Or I’m keeping both eyes wide open.” Leaning in, he pressed his nose to hers. “I really want to keep my eyes wide open.”
And Ísa really wanted to kiss him and run her hands all over that sculpted chest. “Three,” she whispered.
