Review- First Comes Love by Katie Kacvinsky

Goodreads Summary:

Like his name, Gray is dark and stormy. Dylan, a girl always searching for what's next, seemingly unable to settle down, is the exact opposite: full of light and life. On the outside, they seem like an unlikely couple. But looks can be deceiving and besides, opposites attract.

What starts as friendship, turns into admiration, respect and caring, until finally these two lone souls find they are truly in love with each other.

But staying in love is not as easy as falling in love. If Dylan and Gray want their love to last, they're going to have to work at it. And learn that sometimes love means having to say you're sorry.

REVIEW:

Katie Kacvinsky's First Comes Love is a super cute read that makes you think about the simple things in life. I really enjoyed reading every single page and found it hard to put the book down.
First Comes Love is the story of Gray and Dylan, two completely different teenagers. Gray is finding it hard to get back to life after his twin sister dies in an accident that leaves him devastated and his family is torn apart. Dylan is a cheerful and positive person, who always looks at the brighter side of life.
At the beginning, it seemed nearly impossible for the two protagonists to get along, but as they get to know one another, it was a total fun ride. I loved reading the conversations between Gray and Dylan.
Gray had this tortured hero aspect to him that made him all the more irresistible and Dylan was so much of fun to have around. I loved her randomness. The way she sees life and does what she does was absolutely adorable.
Gray and Dylan balance each other out perfectly. They were just perfect, for each other and as individual characters. All the times they hung out or went on dates were such innovative and creative ideas. I found myself going 'aww!' many number of times, it was that cute.
Keeping aside the fun part, First Comes Love is all about finding love in places you never thought you'd even come across it. Contrary to many YA contemporary romances, that usually follow the same story-line where the girl and boy meet each and eventually fall in love, First Comes Love was so much more than just that. It was about making love work and how it takes efforts form both the sides for that to happen. It was a refreshing read.
First Comes Love is one of those stories that's surely going to remain with me for a very long time.
The second book in the series is called Second Chance and honestly, I'm so happy with the abrupt and fast way in which First Comes Love ended (again contrary to many other opinions), I'm a little apprehensive about reading book #2, but I guess I will read it only for more Gray and Dylan.
I highly recommend First Comes Love simply because it is a cute, emotional and fun read that absorbs you completely in the world of  Gray and Dylan.

  1. I'm trying to remember where have I seen this book before, but I cannot. Nevermind, I like the sound of it. But I prefer those cute little reads in summer and fantasy in winter. (yeah, that's just freaky me) so I hope to read this one next summer. Great review! :)
