Review- I Have People by Taylor Dean

Summary-

Missing any memories?

Holly Sinclair is happily married to the love of her life, Gabriel. Young and in love, Holly hopes to have their first child soon. Of course, Gabriel wants to wait till Holly’s health is restored, much to Holly’s dismay. She feels perfectly fine. So what if she just woke up from an eight-month coma? So what if some of her memories are missing? She remembers Gabe and that’s all that matters, right?

That is, until HE enters her life again . . . she forgot about HIM.

Review-

I Have People by Taylor Dean was an interesting read, different from what I  usually read. The cover gives off a happy romance vibe which is very untrue. The book is difficult, filled with issues of abuse. I can't really give many details because that would end up spoiling the book.

The book starts off with Holly Sinclair waking up in the hospital after being in an eight month coma. She remembers that she is happily married to Gabriel and they are trying to have their first child soon. She doesn't remember the incident which led her to being in coma or what happened before that. All she remembers is Gabriel and her love for him.

I Have People deals with spousal abuse. Holly is in a relationship she can't get out of and is suffering in silence. This book makes you really aware of things and what any woman may be going through in her life. It got really dark and horrible at parts where the abuse was described in vivid detail.

I kept on thinking how Holly should finally be standing up for herself but unfortunately it came too late. Holly had people who would help her but she realized it late and it was understandable because she had trust issues. Holly has spent her whole life in a foster home and thinks she doesn't have anyone to rely on. There are two guys in the story and the mystery is kept quite well.

The book moves from the present to the past and then the present again. But as we come to know Holly's past and what she'd been through it becomes very clear who she's going to end up with. I really loved Holly's best friend Angela. She was strong and supportive and wanted the best for Holly. I Have People was not an easy light read I was expecting but it was a good read none the less.

  2. Wow, this one sounds really emotional. I think I would be really surprised when I found out this was a lot deeper than you had originally thought. Of course, that probably added to the overall greatness of the book. Great review! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
