Review- The Chaos Within by Ashima Chalia

Summary-

Designer clothes, swanky cars, unlimited one-night stands, successful careers, loving families and cute children - the Fiasco five, once the most popular group of friends in St. Magnum college, have got what they desired in life. Or so it seems.

An invite to the long-awaited college reunion brings back old memories and a golden opportunity to relive the life that the Fiasco five once enjoyed. Little do they know that once they reach their alma mater, not only will their past catch them off guard but their lives will no longer be the same. As the friends stare down the barrel of the gun-quite literally-the critical question remains - is it too late?

The Chaos within dwells on the most cherished college memories of five best friends and an incident at the college reunion that changes their lives. It is a roller-coaster ride of fun, laughter, hatred and courage that bears testament to the most enduring relationship of all - friendship!

Review-

The Chaos Within by Ashima Chalia was a very random pick which I took when I got the opportunity to read and review it. I'm glad I picked it because it turned out to be a quick and entertaining read. The Chaos Within is the story of five friends who find themselves at their college reunion and how one night changes them all after an unexpected event.

Okay so let's get a bit familiar with the friends known as the Fiasco Five. We have Krish who is a total player and comes of as an overconfident spoilt brat. Then there is Samrat who was once poor but now is very successful. Then we have Kabir a now successful lawyer who still has feelings for Mahi. Mahi is the girly girl, very beautiful but now a trophy wife. And last but not the least is Aakshi, the once tomboy who now seemingly has it all, success, kids and a husband.

What I liked about The Chaos Within is that all the characters were very realistic. These friends truly cherish their friendship but each one of them is hiding behind a facade. The saying it is not always what it looks like is very true for each one of them. All of them were very easy to relate to as well.

I liked how all five of them had absolutely nothing in common with each other but still shared a very strong bond of friendship. The boys were all fun and I especially liked how Mahi and Aakshi shared a special girl bond. The book goes from third person's point of view and we are alternated between the past and the present.

The Chaos within has a little bit of everything. There is romance, unresolved feelings, drama, tension and most important of all friendship. All five friends come out stronger at the end of the book. Like I said before, The Chaos Within was a short entertaining read in which I enjoyed losing myself for a few hours.

Note: A copy of this book was provided by Rupa Publications India in exchange for an honest review. We thank them.

  1. While the plot of a school reunion & then the past dawning over is quite common I hope there's something new in it. Thanks for the review
