Review- Archangel's Viper by Nalini Singh

Summary-

Enter New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s breathtakingly passionate Guild Hunter world with the story of a woman who isn’t a vampire or an angel…or human…

Once a broken girl known as Sorrow, Holly Chang now prowls the shadowy gray underground of the city for the angels. But it’s not her winged allies who make her a wanted woman—it’s the unknown power coursing through her veins. Brutalized by an insane archangel, she was left with the bloodlust of a vampire, the ability to mesmerize her prey, and a poisonous bite.

Now, someone has put a bounty on her head…

Venom is one of the Seven, Archangel Raphael’s private guard, and he’s as infuriating as he is seductive. A centuries-old vampire, his fangs dispense a poison deadlier than Holly’s. But even if Venom can protect Holly from those hunting her, he might not be able to save himself—because the strange, violent power inside Holly is awakening…

No one is safe.

Review-

Archangel's Viper by Nalini Singh is the tenth book in her Guild Hunter series. I LOVE Nalini Singh and I am completely obsessed with her writing and the fabulous worlds she creates. Finally, in Archangel's Viper we get the much awaited Venom's story. Now before I dive in to the review I'd just like to point out that this is a series and should be read in order. I guess you could read it out of order if you wanted to but there are too many connected threads and recurring characters. The vast dynamics of this world would be best enjoyed in order.

Now let's start with Holly. Holly Chang is our heroine. We know from the previous books that she has been through a lot. More than any near immortal should have to go through. Now someone has a bounty on her head and she can't control the voice in her head. Holly needs Venom's help if she wants to get through this. I really admired Holly. She was a strong heroine though she was young and inexperienced in the immortal world.

Then we have Venom. The vampire who is a mix of vipers and cobras and who always comes off as coolly sophisticated. I love Venom. There was so much history to his character and the bond he shared with the remaining Raphael's Seven was unbreakable. Venom tried so hard not to let Holly get under his skin but he failed time and time again. Holly made him feel things he didn't want to and soon he was falling hard for her.

I loved Holly and Venom together. They were a compatible pair even if it did not look like it on the surface. I have to say that the romance in this book was significantly less as compared to other Nalini Singh books. These two definitely took their time with each other. Also, with the amount of unknown variables in their situation it was easy to see that they had to concentrate on other things too.

I loved seeing the rest of the gang. Dimitri and Honor were amazing as always and so were Ashwini and Janvier. We got some glimpses of Illium as well and I just want to know if the Aodhan-Illium ship will sail or no. While reading I did want more romance but Venom and Holly had their own way of caring for each other. Nalini Singh's writing is impeccable as usual and it never fails to remind me why I love her books so much. So even though Archangel's Viper was not my favourite in the series it was still a really good read.
