Review-

All or Nothing At All is the final book in Jennifer Probst's Billionaire Builders series. I have read all the books in the series and I enjoyed them. I didn't LOVE any of them but they were good enough reads. The stories are well written and the romance is nice. All or Nothing At All is the story of Tristan and Sydney and the build up of their story was started right from the first book. So while I did enjoy the book it didn't meet all my expectations.

Let's start with Sydney. Sydney has been working for Pierce Brothers Construction right from the beginning. She was an integral part of the family and always felt at home with the Pierce clan. Sydney has also been in love with Tristan since she was a kid. But she's keeping a secret that could tear them apart. I liked Sydney. She was sweet and sassy and she just wanted Tristan's love and affection.

Tristan in the middle Pierce brother. He has always been the peace keeper, the one who keeps his calm. But sometimes he can be too cold and try as he may he can't get Sydney out of his head. Tristan was a good guy but he definitely had his flaws. He viewed Sydney too harshly for her mistakes and he took his time forgiving her.

Sydney and Tristan have a past. They were together when they were young. But when Tristan's mother died the Pierce family fell apart and all Tristan wanted to do was get away from the small town. Even if it meant leaving Sydney behind. The chemistry between Sydney and Tristan was really good. They made for a very compatible pairing and they were genuinely into each other. The timing was wrong before though and they have a lot of obstacles in their path.

I obviously didn't like the secret Sydney kept but then I also didn't like Tristan's behaviour in some parts. I also did not like how the Pierce family alienated Sydney after the secret was out as if the years and years of trust meant nothing. I found Sydney's daughter Becca to be adorable. Jennifer Probst likes romance really well. Though some of the tropes are cliche they seem to work well and it all works out in the end. So while All or Nothing At All was not one of my all time favourites it was still a good enough read.

Blog Tour- All or Nothing at All by Jennifer Probst

“Probst’s final book in her Billionaire Builders Series is a gut-wrenching, intensely emotional, second-chance romance. The fast-paced dialogue vividly details every emotive scene…The stars and little girl costar are unforgettable, and the series tie-up is exceptional.”

Waiting on Wednesday #207

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spines, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

Ready to Run by Lauren Layne
Publication Date: August 22nd, 2017

Summary-

The Bachelor meets The Runaway Bride in this addictive romance novel about a reality TV producer falling for her would-be star: a Montana heartthrob who wants nothing to do with the show.

Jordan Carpenter thinks she’s finally found the perfect candidate for Jilted, a new dating show about runaway grooms: Luke Elliott, a playboy firefighter who’s left not one but three brides at the altar. The only problem? Luke refuses to answer Jordan’s emails or return her calls. Which is how she ends up on a flight to Montana to recruit him in person. It’s not Manhattan but at least the locals in Lucky Hollow seem friendly . . . except for Luke, who’s more intense—and way hotter—than the slick womanizer Jordan expected.

Eager to put the past behind him, Luke has zero intention of following this gorgeous, fast-talking city girl back to New York. But before he can send her packing, Jordan’s everywhere: at his favorite bar, the county fair, even his exes’ book club. Annoyingly, everyone in Lucky Hollow seems to like her—and deep down, she’s starting to grow on him too. But the more he fights her constant pestering, the more Luke finds himself wishing that Jordan would kick off her high heels and make herself comfortable in his arms.

I find LL reads to be cute and quick and romantic.

What are you waiting on? :)

Review- I Knew You Were Trouble by Lauren Layne

Summary-

New York City’s hottest bachelors are stirring up trouble in this fun, flirty Oxford Novel, as a love triangle forces a feisty beauty to choose between winning back Mr. Right or giving in to Mr. Wrong.

Taylor Carr has it all—a sleek job in advertising, a stunning Manhattan apartment, and the perfect man to share it with: Bradley Calloway. Even after Bradley dumps her for a co-worker on move-in day, Taylor isn’t worried. She’ll get her man eventually. In the meantime, she needs a new roommate. Enter Nick Ballantine, career bartender, freelance writer—and longtime pain in Taylor’s ass. Sexy in a permanent five-o’clock-shadow kind of way, Nick knows how to push Taylor’s buttons, as if he could see right through to the real her.

Nick’s always trying to fix people, and nobody could use a good fixing more than Taylor. Sure, she’s gorgeous, with mesmerizing silver eyes, but it’s her vulnerability that kills him. Now that they’re shacking up together, the chemistry is out of control. Soon they’re putting every part of their two-bedroom apartment to good use. Then Taylor’s ex comes crawling back to her, and Nick figures she’ll jump at the chance to go back to her old life—unless he fights for the best thing that ever happened to him.

Review-

I really enjoy Lauren Layne books from time to time so I was excited to read I Knew You Were Trouble. This is actually the fourth book in her popular Oxford series. You don't need to have read the previous books in the series as this one easily stands alone but I would highly recommend that you do as there are multiple recurring characters. Overall, I liked I Knew You Were Trouble but it was definitely not my favourite read from Lauren Layne.

So this is the story of Taylor and Nick. Taylor and Nick have been circling each other since a long time. We actually get to see a few glimpses of them in the previous book. This book starts right at the beginning and let me tell you, these two have taken their time with each other. Let's start off with Taylor. Taylor is hard working and determined but she is clueless when it comes to anything emotional. I liked Taylor as a character. She had been called an ice princess her whole life but she didn't know how to be any other way. When we finally get to see her vulnerabilities we understand her insecurities and abandonment issues.

Nick on the other hand is the complete opposite of Taylor. Nick is rough around the edges to Taylor's perfect persona. He works as a free lancer at Oxford while working part time as a bartender. His image seems to be of the carefree commitment phobic but the reality of the situation is something very different. Nick was a very caring guy. He loved his family and wanted a real relationship though he had been badly burned in the past. I loved how protective Nick was of Taylor.

Nick and Taylor start off as adversaries but it is easy to see their chemistry underneath all the barbs they keep throwing each others way. Lauren Layne is some what of a specialist where it comes to enemies to lovers romance and this is a classic example of that. For the most part, I enjoyed the romance. The surprise at the end was alright for me, not a deal breaker but not entirely satisfying.

My only complaint here is that the ending felt super rushed to me. I think Nick and Taylor should have been given more time to deal with the situation and to accept for what it really was. Nick messes up and though Taylor does forgive him I just felt they needed more time. But I enjoyed seeing all the characters from the Love, Sex and Stilettos series as well as the Oxford guys. I can see that Lauren Layne is trying to set up another couple from this book so maybe this is not the end of the Oxford series. Yet.

Review- What Light by Jay Asher

 BOOK SUMMARY:

From Jay Asher, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Thirteen Reasons Why, comes a romance that will break your heart, but soon have you believing again. . . .
Sierra's family runs a Christmas tree farm in Oregon—it's a bucolic setting for a girl to grow up in, except that every year, they pack up and move to California to set up their Christmas tree lot for the season. So Sierra lives two lives: her life in Oregon and her life at Christmas. And leaving one always means missing the other.

Until this particular Christmas, when Sierra meets Caleb, and one life eclipses the other.

By reputation, Caleb is not your perfect guy: years ago, he made an enormous mistake and has been paying for it ever since. But Sierra sees beyond Caleb's past and becomes determined to help him find forgiveness and, maybe, redemption. As disapproval, misconceptions, and suspicions swirl around them, Caleb and Sierra discover the one thing that transcends all else: true love.

What Light is a love story that's moving and life-affirming and completely unforgettable.

REVIEW:

After reading Jay Asher's dark and daunting Thirteen Reasons Why, I was pleasantly surprised by What Light, which I thought would be along similar lines, but it ended up being a very nice read, which I'm surprised I liked so much because I'm not the biggest fan of romances. But then again, as much as I hate to admit it, I am a sucker for love stories set during Christmas. There's just something warm and welcoming about such stories which always leave me with a smile on my face.

In What Light, Sierra's family, who lives in Oregon, owns a farm where they grow and sell Christmas trees in California, which means every Christmas is spent there. Sierra basically lives two lives and she adores both equally, but this time, when she visits California for Christmas, there is a lovely surprise for her in the form of Caleb. Sierra was an absolutely well developed, sensible and very likeable character who I adored. Just like her, Caleb was a gem too, and their story was so dazzling that I ended up falling in love with it.

This book is so different from Jay Asher's previous book that it almost feels like it's not the same author who has written it. The writing, not very surprisingly, was smooth and clear. I was actually in awe of the slow burn romance that Jay Asher so brilliantly nailed. I really don't have much else to say, other than the fact that I highly, highly recommend this book to fans of Young Adult/ New Adult contemporary romances.

Release Day Blitz- Beautiful Mistake by Vi Keeland

BEAUTIFUL MISTAKE
By Vi Keeland
RELEASING JULY 17TH

BLURB

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.
He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.
When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.
You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend--smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.
He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done.
Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.
Only it turned out, the man I'd just told off wasn't the right guy.
Oops.  My mistake.
Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.
I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?
That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.
Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.
I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.
Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West.
This was going to be interesting…

Review- When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

Summary-

Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers…right?

Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program as him—wherein he’ll have to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself.

The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this “suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not?

Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.

Review-

I had been seeing multiple reviews of When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon on goodreads which intrigued me. The premise of the book definitely sounded cute and I enjoy reading Young Adult contemporary books so when I had an opportunity to read and review When Dimple Met Rishi I went for it. So I know this book has some brilliant reviews and some awful ones. I think I fall somewhere in the middle. While I did enjoy the book it didn't blow my mind away.

Let's start with Dimple. Dimple is ready for college and definitely ready for a break from her mother who is obsessed with finding her the "Ideal Indian Husband" Dimple decides to participate in a summer program which is perfect for her future. What she doesn't expect is to bump into Rishi and what angers her even more is that it has all been arranged by their parents. And thus starts the journey of Dimple and Rishi.

Okay so I liked Dimple. She was a simple girl but she had smarts and big dreams. She wanted to focus on her career and achieve her goals. Her love life is the last thing on her mind. Rishi on the other hand is the complete opposite of her. He is adorable in a dorky way. He respects his parents' wishes and wants to do what will make them happy. He came off as a little uptight but really he had a very idealistic view of the world. He was also quite smitten with Dimple right from their first meeting and that was extremely cute to see.

The concept of arranged marriage has been explored in When Dimple Met Rishi. This is a common practise in India and it is not as heinous as it sounds. Contrary to the popular belief the purpose of an arranged marriage is also to try and find love and that is what Dimple and Rishi's parents want for them. But I did think that things were exaggerated a bit in the book. There were times where Dimple came off as selfish and mean and I didn't like it. Rishi was always there to soften her sharp edges but I wanted her to be just as vulnerable as him.

Sandhya Menon is a really good writer. The book was filled with humour and sprinkled with Indian culture and bollywood references. Also, I loved that the chapters were short and went from both Dimple and Rishi's pov. I practically flew through the book. I also just found out that Ashish- who is Rishi's brother will be getting a book in the future and I am definitely looking forward to that one because he seemed really interesting. Overall When Dimple Met Rishi was a cute read about finding yourself and falling in love along the way.
