Review-

I LOVED Black Rainbow by J.J.McAvoy and now I think I'm her fan for life. That Thing Between Eli and Gwen seemed to be just like the kind of light read I'd enjoy  so I requested it off of Netgalley and luckily got accepted for it. So I have to say that this book wasn't as good as Black Rainbow. I shouldn't keep comparing every book of hers to that one so I'll just say that this book was a good read.

Gwen is our girl. She is an artist and she's proud of how far she's come. She thinks she's headed in the right direction until her fiancé decides to run off with someone. Now Gwen is heartbroken and trying to pick up the pieces. She doesn't expect to have so much of a connection with Eli, the man whose bride ran away with Gwen's fiancé.

To say that things start off weirdly between Gwen and Eli would be an understatement. Gwen was a sweet person but she was definitely hurting. Eli on the other hand wanted to forget everything but his work even though he couldn't take his mind off his new neighbour who turns out to be Gwen. I loved how seamlessly the author turned their relationship from hate to friendship to love. There is definitely no insta love happening anywhere close to here.

I love the way J.J.McAvoy writes the chemistry between her characters. Eli and Gwen are opposites in several ways but they do understand each other well. I LOVED the banter Eli and Gwen shared. Their arguments and what they believed in brought them closer to each other. Plus its safe to say the steamy scenes between them were off the charts once they got together.

J.J.McAvoy has a very engaging style of writing. I could not put the book down once I started reading it. The only part which I felt was unnecessary was at the end of the book. I didn't want that particular twist as I feel that Eli and Gwen would have been fine without it as well and I couldn't see how it helped the story or the plot in any way. Barring that That Thing Between Eli and Gwen was a fun read!
