Summary from Goodreads:
The
perfect guy, the perfect location. What could go wrong?
Hadley Daniels’s life seems perfect…
Before the beginning of sophomore year of high
school, Hadley and her family move to a beautiful beach town, where she makes
amazing new friends and lands the boyfriend of her dreams—Nick Jenkins. He’s
the kind of guy every girl swoons over, and it isn’t long until Hadley
discovers some are still swooning.
A famous ex-girlfriend makes matters more
complicated…
After some time dating, Hadley and Nick form a
deep bond. But insecurity sets in when Hadley discovers her boyfriend once had
a huge crush on her friend—who just happens to be the beautiful former teen TV
star, Simone Hendrickson.
The past is the past—or so they say…
Hadley confronts Nick, who confesses about his
history with Simone. Though he claims to only have eyes for Hadley now, it’s
hard to believe—especially when she’s blindsided with the news that Nick and
Simone kissed after school.
Now Hadley must determine who is telling the
truth. Love, betrayal, friendship…who needs soap opera drama when you’re busy
competing with a star?
List of the Book's Playlist
- Nothing Compares 2 U: Sinead O’Connor—This song sums up how Hadley feels when her heart is breaking over Nick.
- A Thousand Years: I listen to the Boyce Avenue version and it can wring tears from concrete. This is such a perfect first love song.
- Pebbles-Girlfriend—This song is about a girl who tries to tell her friend she deserves a better boyfriend. I see this as being what Pilar would tell Hadley as they wonders what really happened with Nick and Simone.
- Cry by Alexx Calise—Sums up how Hadley feels after she finds out about Simone and Nick. I imagine her sitting in her room listening to this song.
- Track 9 by Clark Manson—The perfect longing break up song when you’re hurting, but you’re still in love with the other person.
- Over it: Katharine McPhee— I think this song sums up Hadley thinking about Simone and having enough of fake friends.
- I Don’t Care: Cheryl Cole—This sums up how Hadley feels when Simone is trying to act like nothing happened and Hadley has had enough of the “star’s” crap.
- Friends—Jody Watley Feat. Eric B. & Rakim—The lyrics say it all. The ultimate “frenemies” song.
- I’m Not the Only One: Sam Smith—That feeling Hadley gets when she finds out Nick had feelings for Simone and all the turmoil it causes inside of her
- I Won't Give Up: Jason Mraz—I see Nick listening to this song as he tries to get Hadley back.
- Stand by You by Rachel Platten—This song sums up Hadley’s relationship with Nick and her friendships with Pilar and Charlotte.
