BOOK SUMMARY:
Barry Trotter is 22 and has never left the Hogwash School of Magic - there's been no need; after all, G.K. Rollin's books about him have made him a millionaire, and Barry is perfectly happy to while away his days as a perpetual (loaded) student. The hoardes of Muddles who hang around outside Hogwash desperate to see him, touch him, are a bit of pain but he can deal with that. But then comes news that Hollywood is planning a film of Rollin's first book about Barry. And they all know what that means: loss of creative control; cheap merchandising; millions more Muddles swarming over Hogwash. Barry agrees a plan with Bumblemore: the film must be stopped. BARRY TROTTER AND THE SHAMELESS PARODY is an incisive and hilarious parody of the Harry Potter phenomenon. There are slyly affectionate digs at the books themselves but Gerber's main scorn is directed at the monster that the Harry Potter franchise has become. The book has a creative energy all its own introducing characters and a hilarious take on magic that even J.K Rowling might appreciate.

REVIEW:
I have one word to describe this book- STUPID. Honestly, I expected Barry Trotter and the Shameless Parody to be hilarious because well, it's a parody. But instead, it turned out to be intolerable, unnecessary and straight up stupid.
Barry Trotter had been lying on my shelf for so long that I finally decided to give it a go. I remember browsing through this book back when I was a teen and my world revolved around Harry Potter (to be honest, it still does). Names like the Dork Lord, Bumblemore, Serious and Snipe fascinated me back then but anything even mildly going against Potter was on my oh-no-you-didn't list. When I saw that book much, much later at a books sale for a very cheap price, I had to buy it and what a waste of money and time it has been!
I admit that I did laugh hard once or twice during the book, but that's it. Laughing once or twice during a 273 pages long book doesn't make it funny. I personally feel that this book has been cheap, cheap publicity and the author was probably jealous of Queen JKR and thought he'd get something by taking her baby and giving it his own ridiculous and extremely pathetic twist. And okay, the book might be all right, but the writing! My God! This writing was horrible.
Going a little ahead, I have two words for you- STAY AWAY. This book does not deserve the money or time of any Potterhead and please learn from my mistake and save those two for all those good books out there.
