REVIEW: 

I have read and enjoyed author Aniesha Brahma’s books in the past. Well, I’ve also met her and she’s a wonderful friend and human being. And guess what? She’s also a great author. When I read When Our Worlds Collide, I felt like I was part of Akriti and Zayn’s rollercoaster story. So when I got to know that the sequel to their story, When Our Worlds Meet Again was out, I had to read the book. 

I had read the first book a long time back so I didn’t really remember most of it. But Aniesha does a brilliant job of giving snippet recaps in the second book that it added to good revision of the previous story. A simple and sweet story, When Our Worlds Meet Again is a short read that I wish was slightly longer as I want to know more about Akriti and Zayn’s future. 

In this book, the dynamic duo finally have some real talk and make some important decisions. While I did find myself getting slightly annoyed with the two of them and how they handled their relationship, it all felt worth it in the end. It was nice meeting all the characters again. 

Overall, When Our Worlds Meet Again is a great read that I would highly recommend to fans of When Our Worlds Collide and if you haven’t read that, I suggest you read both books back to back. They’re awesome weekend reads.

When my friend Aniesha Brahma contacted me about reading and reviewing An Awfully Big Adventure, I was quite excited not only to read the book because I have loved everything I've previously read by Aniesha, but also because the whole idea of putting the proceeds of the book straight into her venture, BUZZ Magazine (for which even I have contributed articles), was so cool. Being a fan of both Aniesha and BUZZ, I couldn't say no to this novella about magic and fairy tales.

An Awfully Big Adventure is the story of siblings Yoshita and Tanay, who grew up reading fairy tales. While Yoshita stopped believing in happily ever afters, Tanay is still a preteen and gets excited at the mere mention of anything resembling an adventure. On Tanay's twelfth birthday, the two have no idea what's in store for them when Yoshita's glass of juice spills on the carpet in their living room. From there begins a lovely journey of fairy tales and magic; basically, everything that Yoshita refuses to believe in and Tanay would give anything to be in.

As usual, both Aniesha's writing and storytelling was very well done. I'm not a believer in happily ever afters, but I do believe in magic and this book took me back to my childhood filled with adventurous and extraordinary stories of ordinary people. While this story is written for children, I don't see why an adult wouldn't have fun reading it because it does its work as a story: it provides and escape from reality and takes the reader on a fun filled journey.

An Awfully Big Adventure is a short and sweet story that's bound to leave the reader feeling content.

Meet the Characters

Diya Rai – is the protagonist of the story whose actions have always had terrible consequences for those around her. Diya is self-absorbed and never chooses anyone else over her own self. Diya’s troubled past keeps her from letting people into her life. Even though she’s hurt Ashwin she wants him back in her life years later.

Ashwin Chowdhury – is her best friend in school and later on, boyfriend. He is left heartbroken by Diya but when their paths cross later on, he realises he doesn’t want anything to do with her. He lives with his mother and elder brother and hails from a upper middle-class family background.

Nina Gonzales – is Diya’s best friend in college. She and Diya had met during their admissions and had become fast friends with one another. Nina and Ashwin end up competing with one another to see who is really Diya’s best friend!

Rishabh – is the quintessential hot, rich guy that Diya dates in college. He seems to be in love with her, but Diya doesn’t seem to return the same affection towards him. Nina hates his guts.

Trina – is the girl Ashwin is interested in. She goes to the same college as Diya and Nina, and while Diya dislikes her mostly because Ashwin seems to be interested in her, Nina is indifferent to her.

So when I heard of All Signs Lead Back to You, I knew I had to read it. While it wasn't as good as When Our Worlds Collide, I still enjoyed reading All Signs Lead Back to You, which was a cute read with a beautiful ending.

All Signs Lead Back to You is the story of high school sweethearts Diya and Ashwin, who are the exact opposites and make for a perfect pair. Diya is the storm to Ashwin's calm. Ashwin was an absolute gentleman for his character was very kind, gentle and understanding. Diya was the kind of character who loves to light a fire, but doesn't quite know how to put it off. I find it difficult to like such characters, but in some way, Diya managed to make a place in my heart, because sometimes- and I really mean, very, very few times- she reminded me at little of myself.

There were parts of the Diya Ashwin story that I really liked, like how they connect over books and can sit talking about them like they're real. That was very relatable and extremely adorable. What I didn't quite like was the sometimes very unnecessary drama that they created, but when I really think about it, they are so young and they've so much to learn, so all is fair and forgiven.

All Signs Lead Back to You was a very cute read that had its ups and downs, but was a very entertaining and enjoyable read overall. The characters were well thought of and portrayed. I could easily ignore the many typos because Aniesha Brahma's simple and lovely writing made the story very easy to understand and follow. Like I said before, I didn't like this one as much as When Our Worlds Collide, but I would still recommend All Signs Lead Back to You because it's a short, simple and sweet read.

REVIEW:

You know that you are liking a book when you end up having dreams about it. That's reason number one why I like Aniesha Brahma's super sweet and wonderful novella about family, friendship and love, When Our Worlds Collide. True to its title, the book is about worlds colliding and not crashing, which made it so adorable, cute and yet, very meaningful and wise. Even though I love novellas and short stories, I enjoyed reading this story so much that I wish it didn't end or that it were at least slightly longer. 

Besides being a good and well thought of story with good and well developed characters, there are many reasons why When Our Worlds Collide ends up being a wonderful read. The story revolves around a cafe that's owned by the main female character Akriti's mother and that's practically run by Akriti. Cafes make extremely beautiful set-ups, so that right there is a major win. On top of that, Akriti was such a different (in the most positive way) character; she was true to herself, smart and a total sweetheart. Plus, she is a reader and writer. Now what's not to like about that? Her relationships with her co-workers Ayoub and the kitchen staff at the cafe were each fresh and very well done. 

Akriti joins a new school which she ends up leaving anyway, but during the short time she spends at this school, she meets Nimmi who she ends up bumping into her cafe and Nimmi now has a boyfriend, Zayn. Zayn's character was perfect in relation to Akriti as he helped her in more ways than one, and added to some major character development when it comes to Akriti. You know that you like a character when they are on the last page of the book, much better than what they were on page one. And not just Akriti, all characters in the novella end up learning from experience and turn into more beautiful versions of themselves. 

To avoid spoiling the story, I don't want to give out any more information about it or about the many other characters who end up playing important roles. What I can say is that all of them were portrayed beautifully and realistically. Speaking of relatable and realistic points, the ending of the story was beautiful. Now these are kind of endings I like, which aren't sugar coated just for the sake of it. So overall, I was very happy with When Our Worlds Collide. Aniesha Brahma's simple and beautiful writing combined with her wonderful story-telling make the novella an enjoyable and extremely sweet read.
