Top Ten Tuesday #67

Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

The actual topic this week is "books on my spring TBR", but I'm not really an ardent follower of TBRs, so I have decided to take up a topic that was done way back in 2011, when we hadn't even started our blog. I just feel that this topic is so interesting, and I actually have a list, so here's what I'm sharing ths time:

top ten five books that came recommended

Check out the main post here.

Here's my list:

Most books are recommended to me by my blogger BFFs like Janhvi, Tanja (well, more like forced, but oh well...) and Glass @ Ja Citam, a ti? and Ao  @ Aobibliosphere. I love these guys as they have the most interesting recommendations that I take extremely seriously and more often that not, end up loving just as much as they did. So here we go:

This beauty was recommended to me by Ao, and I loved it to bits. Check out Ao's review. But let me warn you, it will make you want to read the book ASAP.

These three were recommended to me by Glass and forced upon my by Tanja. Just kidding! I loved all of them becasue they were so unique and different from what I'd read before,

Between Shades of GrayTanja's review and Glass' review
Jellicoe RoadTanja's review and Glass' review
StolenTanja's review (which is yet to come because she's still speechless) and Glass' review

This one was recommended by Janhvi. She gifted it to me on my birthday saying I'd like it, and I did. A lot.

So that's all I have. I want to thank my awesome friends for these super awesome recommendations. I hope you check them out, as well.

Link me up to your Tuesday post, so I can stop by and take a look! Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

Teaser Tuesday #61 + Top Ten Tuesday #65

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Miz B of A Daily Rythm. Anyone can play along!

"I've had it with you. The only thing you can do is quote other people. Can't you come up with something original?"
"All my best thoughts were stolen by the ancients," was his response, this time quoting Emerson.
"We need to get this asshat a lobotomy, pronto."

-Monkeys, Motorcycles, and Misadventures by Harsha

About the book:

After having recurring dreams, a man considers retracing Lord Hanuman's epic journey from India to Sri Lanka. While rationality argues against the pursuit, the dream appeals to something deeper, and he sets out with two friends on a 1200 kilometre trek across South India. The journey however, doesn’t turn out to be quite what they expected. Along the way, through encounters with evil cans of pepper spray, wise men, pimps, hellhounds, and manic elephants, they are forced to confront their personal demons. At one of their lowest moments, plagued by doubt, they lose all hope. That's when they experience a sign, the first of many, which renews their spirits and helps them push forward.

Monkeys, Motorcycles, and Misadventures, provides a candid account of the trio’s incredible journey - their misgivings, sufferings, and triumphs, all in search of faith.

Teaser Tuesday #60 + Top Ten Tuesday #64

Hi, everyone! I decided to go in for both Teaser Tuesday and Top Ten Tuesday today as I have some incredible lines to share from my current read, and I love the Top Ten Tuesday topic for the week. Without much ado, let's get on to the post.

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Miz B of A Daily Rythm. Anyone can play along!

"Even before I open my eyes, I like Vic. Biologically female, gendered male. Living within the definition of his own truth, just like me. He knows who he wants to be. Most people our age don't have to do that. They stay within the realm of the easy. If you want to live within the definition of your own truth, you have to choose to go through the initially painful and ultimately comforting process of finding it."

-Every Day by David Levithan

About the book:

Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl.

There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere.

It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day.

This week's topic is: top ten bookish resolutions we have for 2016

Here's my list:

1) Read at least three books per week, because that is manageable.
2) Let there be at least one book of my own choice each week.
3) Not stress about review books. I will get there eventually and if I don't, no big deal.
4) Try and get back to reading French books!
5) Try and read at least one classic every two or three months.
6) Get back on track and complete 100 books in the year.
7) Be as consistent as possible with the above three resolutions.
8) Concentrate and focus more on the blog.
9) While achieving #5, again, don't stress too much. If Blogger doesn't want to agree with me, let it go.
10) Keep calm and read on.

Don't forget to link me up to your Teaser Tuesday or Top Ten Tuesday post in the comments, as I'd love to see what you've put together. Happy Tuesday, and happy reading!

Top Ten Tuesday #63

Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's topic is:

halloween freebie

Like the hosts, I've decided to go with creepy covers as well. I'll also throw in a few creepy reads if I can. So here's my list:

PLEASE TELL ME YOU AGREE WITH ME WHEN I SAY THIS: WHEN THERE'S A FEMALE FACE ON THE COVER WITH EYES WIDE OPEN, IT FREAKS ME OUT! I almost feel like if I stare at the eyes long enough, they'll blink or something. And if the eyes are closed, I feel like they will open or something. Ugh! Which is why, I cannot stare at these covers long enough, pretty as they are. Please assure me that I'm not the only one who finds this creepy!

Not necessarily in a horror or negative way, but some books that have that creepy feel to it and gave me chills while reading, are:

And finally, just because the theme is Halloween, here are two scary books that are awesome as well:

Don't forget to link me up to your post in the comments below, so I can see your list. Thank you so much for stopping by, and happy reading!
