Review-

Dewayne has been my one of my favorite since the beginning of the Sea Breeze series so I was really excited for Hold on Tight. Maybe I had expected too much out of him or what, I don't know but his book was a disappointment for me. It wasn't all bad but it wasn't as good as some of Abbi's previous books.

Six years ago, Dewayne's life changes when his brother Dustin died of a car accident which Dewayne thinks is his fault. Since then he has been drowning in drinks and girls knowing he would never measure up to his brother. Where did the smart ass, witty Dewayne go?! Where?! This Dewayne was an idiot, sending mixed signals. His reasons were really insufficient and I felt there was a severe lack of depth.

Sienna had loved Dustin but she had worshiped Dewayne. Now she's back in town with her son, Micah trying to live a better life for him. I had initially liked Sienna but as the story progressed I found her to be a bit dumb. Her innocence was really unrealistically portrayed and for a single mother she was stupidly naive. 

The romance between Dewayne and Sienna was not even really a romance. He keeps on saying he doesn't to relationships but he keeps coming back to her. Sienna did not have a strong personality. I didn't understand her. Dewayne and Sienna had chemistry but the lack of communication was apparent. The conflict wasn't strong enough for the story.

BUT I did like a few things. Sienna's son, Micah was a sweet heart. He was the cutest kid and seeing that we didn't have any kids in the previous books it made for a refreshing change. I also liked the tiny glimpses of the remaining couples we get to see how they're doing. All in all, Hold on Tight was an okay read.

REVIEW:

I had decided some time ago that I wouldn't begin my reviews with the following three words, but let me just break my own rules and go ahead and say it- oh my God! What a book! I absolutely adore Abbi Glines' Sea Breeze series. It's one of the few New Adult Contemporary series that I actually follow and look forward to. Although the previous book was a major disappointment, I loved Bad For You so much. The story of Blythe and Krit, Bad For You is an adorable and lovely twist to and take on the regular bad boy meets good girl romance. 

The nicest aspect of Bad For You was that the romance didn't begin till some 50%. Till that point, the protagonists were just friends and even though they were attracted to one another, they knew their boundaries and limits. It's not everyday that we meet New Adult main characters who don't kiss each other and get under the sheets as soon as they meet or within a few days of when they meet. It's also not everyday that these same characters actually indulge in some meaningful conversation and try to genuinely get to know each other. Oh, and another one, it's also not everyday that these characters give each other and their potential relationship all the time that it takes to make it work. 

Krit. Krit, Krit, Krit. I don't know how she does it every time, but Abbi Glines has made me fall in love with yet another one of her bad boys. I hate how these boys have sex with many girls and throw them away left, right and centre but when their girl even as much as talks to another guy, all hell breaks loose. It annoys me to no end and yet, I can't really help but admire how the guy changes from this bad ass dude to a caring and sensible man. I had nothing but pure disgust towards Krit in the previous books of the series, but after giving him a chance and getting to know him in Bad For You, I have to admit that I adore him. He was adorable in his psychotic ways. He was a great friend with an addictive and sparkling personality. And if that isn't enough, to top it all of, the dude's a singer. 

Blythe was perfect for Krit. She was the exact opposite of him. He craves attention. She tries to blend in. He practically knows the whole town. She barely talks to people. He's experienced. Everything is new for her. Sometimes, I thought that for a girl who loves to read and write, Blythe was way too innocent but then again, her side of the story strongly proves the whys of it. I would have ideally liked to know more about her past, but she herself is willing to let it all go and start afresh. She was a really nice person who needed Krit to show her just how nice she was. 

My most favourite books in the Sea Breeze series have been While It Lasts and Sometimes It Lasts and I am loyal to our male protagonist in these stories, Cage York. But Bad For You has been such an unexpectedly and exceptionally well done story that I can easily say that it's my new favourite. I am very stingy with my ratings these days and it's only because of that that I'm giving this book four very bright, shiny, sparkly and glittery stars. I haven't stopped smiling since I put the book down.

“It has been a long time. Why are you here?” I replied, not taking my eyes off Dewayne. He was still larger than life. More so than when I was a teenager. He had a few more piercings now and a couple more tattoos. His shoulders were even wider, and the thick, corded muscles in his arms were intimidating. The man was like a brick wall.

Yet those eyelashes of his were still too thick for a male, and even though he’d pierced his lip, it didn’t take away from the plumpness that women paid good money to mimic. The worn jeans that looked like they needed a good washing hugged him in a way I wanted to ignore. I had to ignore. This man was off-limits to me.

Great, I’d managed to piss off the massive, monster-size man who could knock me down with one hard puff. “Where did that sweet girl I used to know go? You lose her somewhere?” Dewayne’s voice was even, but the low, menacing sound to it bothered me.

What did he expect me to do? Bat my eyelashes at him and swoon like I had when I was a kid? “She learned to toughen up and trust no one.” I gripped the door, fighting the urge to slam it in his face. Because I was pretty sure he could rip it off its hinges if provoked. “Thanks for stopping by. Now that you know we aren’t about to dirty up the neighborhood with our presence, you can go on back to your parents’ place. We’re fine here.” I started closing the door. Dewayne stepped back. To my surprise, he turned around, then started walking away.

Review- Misbehaving by Abbi Glines

Review-

I was a little bit worried before starting Misbehaving because I was so not a fan of Jess or Jason from the previous books. The book started off good for me. Maybe it was just because I was reading an Abbi Glines book after a long while, maybe it was me. But after I was halfway through the book, I did not like how things went.

Jason is Jax Stone's younger brother. We'd met him in the first book Breathe. He's always been living under his brother's shadow and when he comes to Sea Breeze all he wants is a break from life. Okay, first I liked Jason thinking he was the shy and quiet hero but as the book went his actions became dumb. Another point was all the hostility towards Jax. When did Jason suddenly start hating his brother? I didn't get it.

Then we have Jess. She's the local bad girl. Jess has lived a hard life with her mom who works as a stripper. After being in an awful on/off relationship with Hank, now all she wants to do is move on. I didn't like Jess from before and here though I kind of got what she was going through I found her stupid. The only times I did like her was when she was being true with her vulnerabilities and insecurities.

There is no doubt that Abbi Glines knows how to write romance. Misbehaving has plenty of steamy scenes in it. But I didn't get the emotional connect between Jess and Jason. Their reason for being together was unclear. I would have liked more depth to their relationship.

Even if the book was good, Jess and Jason really made me dislike them through their actions and the decisions they took which they thought were smart. It took out the overall enjoyment from the book. For an Abbi Glines book, it was a disappointment. I just hope the next book's better.

REVIEW:

Sometimes It Lasts was one of the most anticipated New Adult releases of 2013 because- 1) it's an Abbi Glines book, 2) it's a Sea Breeze novel and 3) it's Cage York's book. 
Of all the Sea Breeze boys, Cage York has been my most favourite since the moment he was first introduced in Because Of Low and I madly fell in love with him during While It Lasts. From the way things were described in Just For Now, it was clear that Eva and Cage were facing some problems and I was thrilled when Abbi said there'd be another book for the cute couple. 
Sometimes It Lasts starts out with a heartbreaking prologue. It then moves to the happy times that Eva and Cage spend when their relationship was at it's peak. From there, we then get to more ups than downs in their relationship which finally turns into something that is cute and fabulous. 
We saw Cage move from being a playboy to a man in While It Lasts and in Sometimes It Lasts, he remains a man who cares immensely about his woman and is protective of her. I loved his urge to fix every little thing that bothered Eva and take charge of every problem she faced. I loved seeing him want to have and work towards building a stable future for his lady, his family and himself. In short, I fell in love with him all over again. 
I had a few issues with some of Eva's decisions and reactions in this book, but she was still her caring and sweet self and that made it perfectly fine. I liked how she cared about her dad and her dead fiancé's twin brother Jeremy as much as she cared about Cage. 
Eva and Cage are so cute together it's hard to not have a smile plastered on your face while reading their story. They are fabulous and sexy. I love them! 
Also, it was amazing to meet all the other Sea Breeze guys and girls and I'm so excited to read stories of all the single dudes. I'm sure Abbi Glines has something really nice planned for each of them. 
Sometimes It Lasts was a perfect ending to Eva and Cage's wonderful story that I devoured in a few hours and that makes me smile every time I think of it and most importantly, every time I think of my boy Cage. He's super!

Review- Just For Now by Abbi Glines

Summary-

Review-

Just For Now is the fourth book in the Sea Breeze series by Abbi Glines. You can check out our reviews of Breathe, Because Of Low and While It Lasts if you haven't read this series yet which I seriously think you should if you're a fan of New Adult contemporary romance. Or just romance in general.

Just For Now is Preston's story. We'd met him before and seen his several appearances in the previous books. He came off as a total player who had nothing better to do than to look for his next hook-up. Only when the summary for Just For Now came out was it actually hinted that there was more to him beneath all that play boy facade.

Getting to know Preston i.e. the real Preston not what he portrayed to everyone was a real pleasure. You could actually get to see what was going on in his head and how Amanda always managed to get under his skin. His helplessness at falling in love with his best friend's sister and all the attempts he makes trying to push her away were showcased superbly.

Amanda was a nice character too. She's been in love with Preston from as long as she can remember and every time she puts herself out there for him he keeps shutting her down. Tired of getting hurt she tries to move on but neither can help the attraction towards each other and then one thing leads to another. But Preston has his secret and he fears Amanda will leave him after she finds out about his betrayal.

I totally enjoyed Preston and Amanda's story. It has everything I expected in an Abbi Glines book. I loved how we got to see all the other couples from the previous books. Those were some of my favorite scenes and  brought a smile to my face. With lots of angst, drama and emotion Just For Now was a fantastic new adult read which I thoroughly enjoyed.

REVIEW:

While It Lasts, the third book in Abbi Glines' Sea Breeze series, is the story of Cage York and Eva. I was deeply interested in Cage when he was first introduced in Sea Breeze #2, Because Of Low and I had a slight crush on him. On the one hand, I so would have loved to see him and his best friend and the only family he ever had, Low, get together. On the other hand, if that would have actually happened, Low and Cage wouldn't have each gotten their separate, beautiful and extremely wonderful stories. 
Cage York is a player and a complete bad boy (no wonder it's so easy to like him). A baseball player, he gets caught for drunk driving and in order for him to keep his baseball scholarship intact, he is sent to a farmhouse by his coach to help the owner there. This farmhouse belongs to Mr. Wilson and his really pretty daughter with the bluest eyes Cage has ever seen. A relationship between the two seems impossible with Eva's instant dislike for Cage and her sorrowful past which really harbours pity and admiration for the girl. 
It was adorable to see Cage go from being a player to a man, from having sex with tons of girls to trying to make love to one. Cage is just adorable. The guy is the right amount of everything- good looks, charming, experienced, friendly, sporty, possessive. 
While It Lasts can easily be read as a stand-along, but it is essential to know how strong the bond between Cage and Low is. He protects her like an older brother and cares about her happiness. He comes for a troubled family alright, but Cage really is, deep down, a very sweet and loving guy. 
Eva, on the other hand, is a sweet and simple country girl who has her future all planned out when tragedy strikes. Her world is shattered. With help from family and friends, but majorly from a very helpful and caring Cage, she finds herself trying to live again. The twin Beasley brothers, Josh (Eva's fiance) and Jeremy were both adorable and very gentlemanly which was even more adorable. 
Eva and Cage make a lovely couple. The attraction between the two is impossible to go unnoticed. The banter, understanding, misunderstanding and everything in between the two was admirable, funny and really sexy. The whole countryside set-up made their relationship very cosy, intimate and warm.
While It Lasts is a very cute read. There is music involved (Eva plays the guitar) which makes it even more adorable. The other characters also make an appearance in this one and when Eva explains each of them from her POV, it's just a refreshing reminder of how all the Sea Breeze series characters are intertwined in a super sweet way. 

Abbi Glines has a way of making cocky and cheesy look and sound so cuddly and lovely! Her books are light-hearted, easy to read and completely entertaining. I love how her books end on an 'happy for now' rather than a full fledged 'happily-ever-after' note, it makes the story more believable. While It Lasts was no different. I would have easily read the book in one sitting, but I wanted to keep Cage and Eva's very pretty story about moving on, caring and finding love with me for longer. I love messed up stuff and I love when love is picked above anything else, and so I loved reading their story while it lasted!

The song perfectly fits the scenario and story-line of the book and Eva and Cage!

Summary-

Breathe (Sea Breeze #1)

Review-

There's just something about Abbi Glines' writing style which compels you to read her books. They are a perfect fit in the New Adult genre which I love. If you're looking for a contemporary new adult romance which is actually quite realistic you should definitely give Abbi Glines a try.

Because Of Low is the second book in the Sea Breeze series. We'd met Marcus Hardy before in Breathe. You can find Sarika's review of Breathe here. I was intrigued by Marcus since the first time we met him and when I found out he got a story of his own I was super excited. I absolutely adored Marcus and Low's story.

Marcus has to come back from college due to a family crisis. His dad has found a girlfriend who is only a few years older than Marcus which leaves his mother mentally falling apart and his sister Amanda devastated. Marcus has to hold his family together and deal with all of it. Willow "Low" Foster is dealing with quite a few problems of her own.

Marcus is Cage's roommate who is Willow's best friend. Low knows Cage will always be there for her when things go from bad to worse but she can't help being attracted to Marcus. I thought Low was a genuinely sweet girl. She was just such a nice person and I felt bad for her having to deal with so many things. Marcus was a swoon worthy guy who admitted it when he was wrong without being egotistical.

The romance was awesome with a number of scenes which just made Low and Marcus more perfect for each other. The truth as they say in the book could be spotted a mile away but that didn't decrease the enjoyment of the book one bit for me. Maybe it was a little cheesy but I like cheesy once in a while. Maybe giving it 4.5 stars is me being generous but I really did enjoy Because Of Low. If you're looking for New Adult Contemporary Romance you should definitely give the Sea Breeze series a go.

Review- Breathe by Abbi Glines

REVIEW:

After reading and absolutely liking The Vincent Boys and The Vincent Brothers, I was looking forward to more books by author Abbi Glines and Breathe (Sea Breeze #1) is her debut book. I love Young/New Adult Contemporary Romances that make you feel like you are experiencing everything that the protagonist is experiencing. Abbi Glines' books do just that. Her stories pull you in and leave you smiling. Breathe was no different. 

The love story of Sadie, a gorgeous, genuinely nice, caring, smart and determined blonde and Jax Stone, the most popular teen rock-star and idol, who girls are mad about and guys look up to, Breathe is a very cute and peachy read. 
I absolutely adored Sadie. Her life is a mess with her mother being pregnant and ever complaining, so much so that she doesn't even go to work. The responsibility of bringing food to the table falls in the hands of Sadie and she is a hard worker. Her entire family situation really pissed me off and I couldn't, in any way, relate to it. But I could totally understand Sadie' situation. She doesn't complain, doesn't crib, but does what she can do for survival. She replaces her mom as a maid in the Stone Mansion, the home of the rock-star Jax Stone. That is where the very adorable romance between the two begins. Jax and his ways of wooing Sadie did seem very cheesy at times. It was really sweet to see the high on fame and low on privacy guy go out of the way to make sure Sadie was safe and happy. Plus, I love love love music in any form in a book. Jax's songs added a romantic and very emotional touch.  
Sadie makes a new (and her only) friend whilst working at the Mansion. Marcus was an extremely adorable and lovable guy. I really wish the simple friendship between the two had turned into a romantic relationship, but then again, Marcus wouldn't get his own special story in the next book in the Sea Breeze series, Because Of Low. 
The other staff at the Stone Mansion, like Ms. Mary, Mr. Greg and Marcus' friends (who endlessly flirted with Sadie) were lovely and very pleasant. Their presence gave the story a light and realistic feel. 
The arrival of Sadie's pretty little baby brother just makes the story all the more heart-warming. I just love it when a number of things come crashing down all at once to make a perfect ending. 
Breathe is a cute, cheesy and chilled out read that I was totally absorbed in.
