A Blood Brothers Novel

Review-

I am  HUGE Rebecca Zanetti fan. I have read and loved her Sins Brothers series. You can find my review of the first book, Forgotten Sins here. When I saw that she had a new romantic suspense book coming out I jumped on it. Little did I know that its actually a spin off of her Sins Brothers series. *happy dance*. So, Deadly Silence is the first book in the Blood Brothers series. I'll get right to the point. I LOVED it!

Ryker Jones is our hero. Ryker along with his brothers Heath and Denver run a detective agency known as Lost Bastards. They are known for finding the lost as the name suggests. Ryker, for me was a great hero. He loved his brothers to death and was willing to do anything for them. He was protective and possessive of Zara and he was open about his feelings for her. Ryker was lethal in his own way but he didn't hesitate to show his vulnerabilities to Zara. I just loved that about him.

Zara Remington was the sweetest heroine. I've fallen in love all over again with Rebecca Zanetti's writing style and how she pens down her heroines. Zara was sweet yet strong. She had bad experiences with men in her childhood because of her mother so she was hesitant to trust Ryker. But she was so genuine and kind and basically a good woman. She was also very smart and intelligent.

The chemistry between Ryker and Zara was great. They were extremely attracted to each other. They were both keeping some secrets but as the book progresses we slowly start to unravel them. I really enjoyed how the intimacy was built up between Zara and Ryker. They made a good couple and they totally deserved a happy ending for themselves.

Also, let's not forget Ryker's brothers Denver and Heath. They are both so damaged yet so determined to do anything for each other. I can't wait for their stories. There is a LOT of action in Deadly Silence. Rebecca Zanetti weaves a fantastic story with lots of suspense. There is enough romance combined with the suspense and action to keep you hooked. I also loved seeing the Sins Brothers make an appearance. I love how complex the world is in this series where nothing is how it seems. Definitely check Deadly Silence out!

Waiting on Wednesday #176

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

In a Perfect World by Trish Doller
Publication date- May 23rd 2017

Goodreads Summary:

Caroline Kelly is excited to be spending her summer vacation working at the local amusement park with her best friend, exploring weird Ohio with her boyfriend, and attending soccer camp with the hope she’ll be her team’s captain in the fall.

But when Caroline’s mother is hired to open an eye clinic in Cairo, Egypt, Caroline’s plans are upended. Caroline is now expected to spend her summer and her senior year in a foreign country, away from her friends, her home, and everything she’s ever known.

With this move, Caroline predicts she’ll spend her time navigating crowded streets, eating unfamiliar food, and having terrible bouts of homesickness. But what she finds instead is a culture that surprises her, a city that astounds her, and a charming, unpredictable boy who challenges everything she thought she knew about life, love, and privilege.

From critically acclaimed author Trish Doller comes an honest, hopeful, and romantic story about the barriers we tear down for the people and places we love most.

I absolutely love Trish Doller's storytelling and writing, so I'm really looking forward to this book, which sounds so incredible. I hope it ends up being a hit.

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?

EXCERPT-

Heat from his body washed over her, but she lifted her head tomeet his gaze. “We don’t have a relationship.”
He smiled then, and the curve of his lips held more determination than amusement. “I’m not letting you run, and I’m certainly not letting you hide, baby. Although neither of us has been in this for the long haul, I’m staying in Wyoming for the moment. The first thing that’s going to happen is I’m going to figure out who dared put a hand on you and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
For the first time, she saw a side of him that gave her true pause. In the long haul, he’d be unbearably possessive. Why did that give her an intriguing sense of safety? “Knock it off,” she snapped in his face. “Get out of my business.”
That quickly, she found her back against the door and her front pinned by hard male. His hands planted on either side of her neck, his thumbs at her jaw, forcing her to look at him. “Something you need to understand and pretty damn quick is that your business is my business right now.” His thumb swept up and over the offensive bruise onher face.
“Step back.” Her voice trembled.
He ignored the very calm order. “No. You don’t want to tell me who did this? Fine. I’ll find out on my own, and I’ll have the name by the time I pick you up for supper. What you don’t want to do is deal with him or his case until I have that name. Kicking him in the balls might’ve just pissed him off more, and now you’ve let a bully stew on it for a while, which might be dangerous for you. Got it?”
“You have no right to interfere,” she whispered.
“Baby, I’ve been fuckin’ you for months. That gives me everyright.” Anger glowed dark in his eyes.
“We’re done. Get out.”
His eyes softened. “You shouldn’t make statements you can’tback up.”
She shoved against his ripped abs.
He didn’t move a millimeter.
And then he did.
His head dipped, and his mouth found her neck and wandered upto her ear. His teeth scraped, and then his tongue licked the slight wound.
Of its own volition, her body did a full tremble.
He leaned back. “That.”
Her mind fuzzed.
His mouth slammed down on hers. She knew his kiss—often dreamed about it. Not soft and sweet . . . not even lustful. It was dangerous. From day one, she’d tasted danger on his tongue, and it burned her hotter than she’d ever been.
Never had she dated a bad boy, but after living her desired routine-drivenlife for years, she’d craved adventure, and he filled that need. He drew out a wildness she hadn’t realized she possessed.
He held her flush against the door, kissing her hard, sending a craving along her nerves that almost hurt. His tongue went to work, his left hand keeping her jaw open for him. His right hand found her hip and dragged her against the obvious bulge in his jeans. By the time he released her, she’d stopped thinking completely.
“What time are you finished today?” he asked, his breath heating her face.
“Fi-five,” she stuttered.
He leaned back and gently put her to the side. “Stay in the office until I come for you at five, Zara.” He ran his thumb across her bottom lip. “Cross me on this, baby, and I ain’t gonna be gentle.” He had already shut the door behind himself before she could take a whole breath.
She blinked several times, her fingers going to her still-tingling mouth. What had just happened?

My review of Blocked (Blocked #1)

REVIEW:

"If you liked author Jennifer Lane's Blocked, you will love Aced." This is what I had said in my review for Aced, the second book in the Blocked series. Now I don't really know what stage comes after love, but whatever that is, you will feel that after reading SpikedAced still remains my favourite, but the last book in the series, Spiked was just as good as Blocked and an extremely satisfying conclusion to what has become one of my most favourite New Adult series.

Spiked is the story of the youngest children in the Democratic and Republican families, Jessica and Mateo. Their siblings got their achievements and happily ever afters in their respective novels, and while their stories were lovely, I was always curious about Lucia and Alejandro's younger brother Mateo because he seemed like such a nice and quiet boy. And when I got to know that he would be paired with Dane's little sister Jessica, I could not wait to see what Jennifer Lane would put out for us. Well, it goes to say that, like always, Jennifer didn't disappoint because this book was so bloody good.

I feel sad that this series is over, because I love how each book doesn't just focus on the main couple, but on the most important families in America. It's great to get a bit of everything like politics, sport, drama, family, friendship, psychological issues, illnesses and love in one book as that makes it so much more interesting and highly entertaining. Jennifer Lane has a knack for taking up a serious subject and portraying it in a way that is both important, from an awareness point of view and light, in the way that is it incorporated in a contemporary fiction book.

I feel like the biggest problem with books that I love is that I cannot stop talking about it. I mean, it's been three paragraphs and I haven't said anything about our main characters, Mateo and Jessica yet. It goes to say that I loved them both. While they are part of very important and prestigious families, they both seemed so normal and all the stuff they went through made them relatable and comforting. Jessica and Mateo were both total sweethearts and it was hard not to love them as individuals and even more as a couple, because they were just so perfect for each other; almost like magnets.

Spiked, just like Blocked and Aced, was a great read with a nice message. With this series, Jennifer Lane has made me genuinely appreciate the physical and mental intensity of sports people, the strength of people with physical, medical, psychological or basically any problems or issues, and a good romance; the latter being something I'm not too fond of, but hey, there's a first for everything. I don't normally furiously recommend books, but I would definitely recommend this series to everyone, because aside from being entertaining, it's important as well.
