Lindy Harris is a quiet, studious high school student who’s in love with books. When she sees a note written in her favorite poetry book to “Hot Wheels”, she’s in disbelief. That’s when she realizes the book belonged to the sender—Mark Ferry, the student body president. She’s all but convinced when she finds out that he, of all people, wants to go out with her.
Review-
Hot Wheels by Stephanie Campbell is the story about Lindy who is a high school student. She had met with an accident a few years ago because of which now she is in a wheelchair. It starts with her opening her favorite poetry book only to find out that someone has scribbled Hot Wheels in it and that she has a secret admirer.
Then she realizes that the sender of the note was Mark, the student body president and a popular guy. Lindy has to overcome her insecurities and really give Mark a chance to prove that his feelings for her are real.
Hot Wheels was a very short and sweet read. The problems which Lindy was facing seemed real. Though it says the book is Young Adult it seemed to me that it fell more towards Middle Grade. I would have liked to get to know more facets of the characters thoroughly but it was a short story. If you want a quick sweet read which gets over within the hour Hot Wheels is the book.
