Review-

I have to admit that reading a book like The Anatomy of Jane by Amelia LeFay is a first time for me. I like romances more on the sweeter side. I didn't know what to expect and frankly, I didn't have any high hopes that I'd enjoy myself but curiosity got the better of me. Amelia LeFay is actually the pen name for J.J.McAvoy whose books I've read and enjoyed and I actually ended up really liking The Anatomy of Jane.

So, as you can probably guess from the cover and summary this book is about a ménage, a completely new territory for me and I had no idea how the dynamics would work between three. But Amelia LeFay puts all doubts to rest and the story somehow works beautifully with just the right amount of everything. Jane, Max and Wes are characters with strong and distinctive personalities and each brings something to the table.

Let's start with Jane. Jane is a hard working and free spirited girl who has had a rough life. She's always been on her own and now she's working as a maid. When she accidentally stumbles upon Max and Wes everything changes. I liked Jane and how she was not at all judgemental about anyone. She had the strength to stand up to Max and Wes and that was something.

Max comes from a conservative and powerful family. He's been in a relationship with Wes since the past four years but hasn't been able to come out with it. Max was the secretive one, a hard ass who didn't give in easily. Wes on the other hand is his complete opposite. Wes is a well known chef in the country. He knows he loves Max but he can't deny the same connection he feels with Jane. Wes is the one who is actually willing to take the leap and give the relationship between the three a shot.

I don't even have to say it but I will. The steamy scenes between these three were blush worthy. There is a lot of passion but there is also a lot of depth behind each person and that is what surprised me. There is actually a story going on and just when you think these three will get the happy ending they deserve the author pulls out the rug from under our feet. Its safe to say I am beyond desperate to get my hands on the next book to see what happens with these three. I don't know how to put it in words exactly but The Anatomy of Jane was a surprisingly good read for me.

REVIEW:

I have been thinking a lot, and I cannot think of any word to describe this book other than beautiful. It was so beautiful. Beautiful characters. Beautiful story. Beautiful writing. Beautiful everything. My Best Friend, Maybe is nothing but beautiful. So very beautiful. 

I normally don't read book summaries, and I didn't read the one for this book either. But it showing up every time I went on the Goodreads page of a LGBT book told me everything I needed to know and that was to add the book to my TBR, get it and finally read it. I'm not even going to attempt summarizing the book because, 1) the story is beautifully complicated and 2) I'd rather you read the book. Seriously, I have never read a book about a lesbian that's as beautiful as this one, and I do read my share of the category. 

My Best Friend, Maybe was perfectly balanced in terms of all the contrasts it had. While there were times when the book seemed predictable- and I was right about most of my suspicions- the book did take some really unpredictable turns that made it both creepy, mysterious and pretty at the same time because of the way in which it was done. Speaking of mysterious, there was this eerie feeling throughout and it added just the right amount of tension and curiosity. 

While this story did appear to be very dramatic at times, I feel the drama was not very overdone because every time something seemed very hard for me to believe or too much, I just put myself in the shoes of the respective characters and that's when it started getting realistic and justifiable. But still, it was full of drama- both good and bad. 

I really, really, really like this beautiful, beautiful, beautiful book so much and I don't know what else to say other than the fact that I would highly recommend it.

Review-

I had Unravelling lying on my shelf since quite some time before I actually got to it. Maybe because I've become very picky with the young adult books I read nowadays but Unravelling was overall an average read for me. I've read some brilliant reviews for it but I didn't find anything that extra ordinary about it. I think the main reason for that is the female lead.

Let's start with Janelle. Janelle has to act like a parent to her younger brother since a long time because her mother is not all there and her dad is always out working for the FBI. Janelle has learnt to be self sufficient until an accident occurs and things change. I liked Janelle in the beginning but later on she started getting on my nerves. I found it irritating that she didn't consider anyone to be as intelligent as herself.

The fact that she had no other female friends also bothered me. I found it a bit unrealistic to believe that this seventeen year old is trying to figure out what the FBI can't and she wants to save the world without anybody's help. I get that this is science fiction but still it was too much to take. I just didn't agree with all the decisions Janelle took. She could have handled her situations better.

What I did like was the theory that there are multiple universes that the author has created. I also liked Ben and his friends. The bit of romance was nice but the suspense part was a little weak because I had figured out who the killer was long before. Ben and his friends' abilities were very interesting. I also really liked Janelle's younger brother Jared and her best friend Alex.

The whole countdown to the world's end was exciting as the book progressed. What I really liked was Elizabeth Norris' writing style. The chapters were compact and that is what kept me hooked and flipping the pages till I finished another chapter. Unravelling was an okay read for me.
