Review- Allure by Nina Lane

Summary-

“We both want this so badly. I can feel it resonating between us like the hot pull of our first attraction, tangible and intense.”

After lies and betrayal almost destroy their marriage, Dean and Olivia West reignite their blissful passion. The medieval history professor and his lovely wife are determined to fix their mistakes, and Liv’s unexpected pregnancy intensifies their desire to fall madly in love all over again.

Then a family crisis forces Dean back into a feud with his parents and siblings, dredging up guilt over a painful family secret. Dean fights to shield Liv from the hostility, but for the first time, Liv resists her white knight’s defense. Her newfound resolve clashes with Dean’s desperate need to protect her.

Liv and Dean have battled obstacles together before, but bitter family conflicts now endanger their fragile intimacy. And when Dean’s career is suddenly threatened, he and Liv must struggle with events that could damage them in ways they had never imagined.

Review-

Allure by Nina Lane is the second book in the Spiral of Bliss series. You can find my review of the first book, Arouse here. When I'd read Arouse I had no idea that it would be so brilliant so my expectations were quite high when I started Allure. I am super happy to say that Allure is just as good as Arouse, if not better.

When we left of in Arouse, Liv and Dean had just gotten back together. There were things they both did not see coming but their love for each other pulled them through all the lies and betrayals. In Allure, both Liv and Dean are so determined to make their marriage work even though they are again faced with a ton of obstacles in their path.

I loved Liv. She came into her own in this book. She grew and became much more independent. Even though Dean couldn't stop his over protectiveness over her she managed to stand up for herself. I loved Dean and I loved the way he loved Liv. He is a simple man of few words but there is no doubt of his love for his wife. I loved seeing how Dean and Liv were both working through their issues on their own and together without letting go of each other.

Nina Lane knows how to write intimate scenes to perfection. I loved the romance between Liv and Dean. There are no grand gestures or sappy words but the simplicity and intensity with which the love between them is portrayed just melts you. But Allure was not all about the romance. Liv and Dean have been to hell and back in this book and I just want everyone to leave them alone so that they can finally be with each other the way they want to.

Allure just makes you more invested in Liv and Dean's story if you weren't already in Arouse. There are so many things they both are yet to overcome which I hope they will in Awaken. Allure took me through a multitude of emotions with some really bittersweet moments. Not every book has the capacity to do that. All I want to say is, if you love romance you need to get to this series NOW.
