Review- The Trouble With Love by Lauren Layne

Summary-

As Stiletto magazine’s authority on all things breakup-and-heartache, Emma Sinclair writes from personal experience. Five years ago, Emma was Charlotte, North Carolina’s darling debutante and a blushing bride-to-be. Now she’s the ice queen of the Manhattan dating scene. Emma left her sultry Southern drawl behind, but not even her closest friends know that with it she left her heart. Now Emma’s latest article forces her to face her demons—namely, the devilishly sexy guy who ditched her at the altar.

After giving up everything for a pro-soccer career, Alex Cassidy watches his dreams crumble as a knee injury sidelines him for good. Now he’s hanging up his cleats and giving journalism a shot. It’s just a coincidence that he happens to pick a job in the same field, and the same city, as his former fiancée . . . right? But when Emma moves in next door, it’s no accident. It’s research. And Alex can’t help wondering what might have been. Unlike the innocent girl he remembers, this Emma is chic, sophisticated, and assertive—and she wants absolutely nothing to do with him. The trouble is, Alex has never wanted her more.

Review-

I cannot even begin to say how impatient I was about getting to The Trouble With Love. Emma and Alex Cassidy's history or whatever bits we got of it had been dangled throughout the series and then snatched away before we got enough. It is safe to say that I LOVED The Trouble With Love. It was a great second chance romance with lots of depth and character.

Let's start with Emma. Emma is the newest at Stiletto and she completes the quartet of the four best friends who work at the magazine. Emma has been writing about heart break in her columns because she has had first hand experience of it at the hands of none other than Cassidy. I loved Emma. She kept her emotions hidden and it was easy to call her an ice queen but she had a torrent of emotions swirling beneath the surface.

Alex Cassidy has been kinda like an enigma the entire series. He is very similar to Emma. Keeping his emotions hidden and never losing his cool. But he has never been able to forget Emma and he can't stop thinking about where they would have been now if they were married. I really liked Cassidy. We actually find out the reasons behind all of his actions in this book.

Though The Trouble With Love is a second chance romance all of the book takes place in the present with an exception of a tiny glimpse of the past. I have to give credit to Lauren Layne because she made us see Cassidy and Emma's history without once taking us through flash backs. We got to see who they were in the present and how they still were just as into each other as before.

The best part about this book with Cassidy and Emma's love story of course, was seeing all the couples together. In simple words, they were hilarious. It was almost like you were reading about family, their bonds were so strong. Emma and Cassidy's romance definitely left me satisfied and I am sad to see the series end. But I am definitely looking forward to reading more from Lauren Layne. I won't be forgetting this series any time soon.
