Movie Blitz- Forever My Girl by Heidi McLaughlin

Guys! I am SO excited for this post, because I loved reading Forever My Girl way back in 2012, my review of which is right here. This story has stayed with me, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it's transformed on the big screen.

REVIEW:

I remember the time I read Heidi McLaughlin's Forever My Girl and fell in love with the story. I found the novella, My Everything to be pretty okay and after that I was a little out of touch with the Beaumont series. But thanks to my great buddies Janhvi and Aman (you can read her review of the book here), I recently read the super sweet second book, My Unexpected Forever just in time for the third book, Finding My Forever which I buddy read with the girls as our January Endless Read. 

Finding My Forever is the story of Jimmy, the third and final band member of 4225 West, the other two being Liam and Harrison; and Jenna, a Beaumont native who is friends with Liam's and Harrison's girls, Josie and Katelyn. Jimmy has had a disappointing and heartbreaking relationship of three years with Chelsea and he's been a complete player ever since while Jenna has been in an abusive marriage to her friend. It's pretty obvious about what happens when the two come face to face in Beaumont. There's lot of drama and spice and some really silly and stupid going ons that finally lead to a sweet ending. 

While I did enjoy the first 40% and last 30% of the book, the in between, that's from 40% to 70% really put me off because to rip off the band-aid and put it simply, it was shallow. Both Jimmy and Jenna seemed really stupid and a number of things came up at the wrong place and wrong time that really put me off. Things either took place too early or too late for my taste and that tends to get very annoying. Dependency, making someone else responsible for your happiness, becoming better for someone who isn't even in the world yet, not for yourself... Ah, I just cannot understand all that. 

It may seem like I didn't like this book at all, but it's not true. I did like many things about it. I liked how Jimmy was funny and how he changed for the benefit of those around him. I liked how Jenna had her venerable and weak moments that made her real. And I especially liked meeting all the other Beaumont people. 

Overall, Finding My Forever wasn't as good as the previous books in the series and it's a disappointment because this is an adult series that I actually enjoy and look forward to and maybe that's why I may seem a wee bit partial to it. When I discussed the story with the two girls, I realized that we all had a point in saying whatever it is we have to say about it. Nonetheless, the book was a good one time read that I enjoyed.

Review- My Everything by Heidi McLaughlin

REVIEW:

Heidi McLaughlin's My Everything is a novella in the Beaumont series. I absolutely loved the first book in the series, Forever My Girl (my review of which can be read here).  

My Everything is the adorable story of Nick Ashford. Nick had a huge crush on Josie, was her partner for many years and helped bring up her kid with Laim, Noah. After Liam got back to Beaumont and things between him and Josie started getting bright, Nick knows he has no chance and he sets out to do some volunteer doctor work in Africa. Africa is where Nick meets his sweet, beautiful and sexy (just as he describes her) wife, Aubrey.

I am not a huge Nick fan. When I met him in Forever My Girl, I wasn't very fond of him. I thought he was being forceful with Josie about marriage and he was just trying to steal Liam's girl  but in his story, you realise he is just trying his best to keep Josie safe and he really cares about her. 

Aubrey and Nick's relationship seemed to go really fast and it was hard to figure out exactly where and how the two decided that they were good for each other. Yet, the two seem perfect for each other and you can't help but feel happy that Nick has finally found peace and love and that Aubrey is willing to take care of him and give him everything. When they get married and come to the States, Nick is dying to meet Noah and Aubrey makes sure that happens. 

That's where Josie and Liam also come into the picture and it was amazing to see the two together again. I know this novella is about Nick, but Josie and Liam are so cute, I was excited to meet them again. Josie and Liam share a beautiful relationship and although it's difficult for me to look beyond them, I must admit that after My Everything, it's hard to not adore Aubrey and Nick as well. But the best relationship in this novella was between Nick and Noah. The two of them made a strong team and they share a wonderful bond. 

Even though the novella didn't make much sense to me, author Heidi McLaughlin has rightly given Nick a sweet story and an happy ending, which he truly deserves after all the hurt he's been through. My Everything was not necessary but it was a sweet read nonetheless and much appreciated before the next book, My Unexpected Forever comes out.

REVIEW:

I was super duper excited about Forever My Girl the moment I saw the cover reveal post on the blog, The Readiacs, of which author Heidi McLaughlin is one of the writers. 
The beautiful title, absolutely gorgeous cover and the lovely summary, particularly the four  words- rockstar, football, sweetheart and music- were more than enough for me to be completely intrigued by the book. Come 27^th December 2012 and I set aside all my current reads to get to this one. I was so absorbed in the story that it got over in no time. 

I love sports. I love high school sweethearts. I love music. I love bands. I love past. I love lost love. I love things unsaid. I love things undone. I love messed up. And I loved Forever My Girl because it had everything I love. 
It was the perfect read for a contemporary romance lover like me.

After an expected and life-changing meeting with his grandmother, Liam Westbury decides to leave everything behind to follow his dreams of making music in the grand city of Los Angeles. Without even giving an explanation to his family, friends and even his girlfriend, Liam just leaves Beaumont, his hometown and comes back ten years later to attend his best friend's funeral and he is now keen on making things right. And that's what he does in a soothing, sexy and stunning manner. Liam was outstanding. He was simply adorable and in spite of all the shit that he did and the mess that he made, it was hard to dislike him even the slightest bit. I loved him and I loved how he put things back on track and how his love for his high school sweetheart Josie was strong, pure and eternal.

Josie has her all-American dream life all planned out and is terribly heartbroken when her high school sweetheart Liam leaves her behind without even saying why. She is now mother to her and Liam's ten year old son, Noah and in a sturdy relationship with Nick. Things take a complete turn when Liam returns to Beaumont. Her undying love for Liam was hard to miss and easy to understand especially since she was willing to forgive Liam and start a new life. Josie was great. Her grief made me sympathise with her. She was a strong woman, a great mother and a beautiful girlfriend.

Josie and Liam's story was simply stunning. A perfect high school relationship, dreams of a perfect future home and family, sudden heartbreak and heartache, a long period of separation and sorrow, a slow come back of forgiveness and affection and pure, eternal and undying love make Forever My Girl an adorable and smashing read. 
It was so easy to fall in love with this book. Forever My Girl has a  cozy set up in Beaumont. The pages literally sizzled with Liam’s hotness and were sweetened by Josie's graceful demeanor. All the torture and depression just added immense volume to an already deep story. 
Loyal and true friendship, family, hope, dreams, love, trust and happiness make the story believable. 
Author Heidi McLaughlin has written an absolutely beautiful story with beautiful characters and a beautiful reunion of true love- it is a beautiful debut and I know that the books to come from the author will be just as good. 

The more I love a book, the more I talk about it. Save for a few editorial mistakes here and there, it a great book. I loved Forever My Girl. but it has left me stunned and impressed and words aren't enough to portray how much I loved it. All my high expectations were met and my excitement was totally worth the wait. Forever My Girl was the first book in the Beaumont series and I am extremely excited to read the stories of Liam's fellow band mates in the books to come. I’m happy I could conclude the year with such a beautiful read.
