Book Blitz- Breaking the Rules by Katie McGarry

Hi, guys! Both Janhvi and I follow and love this series and are super excited to be part of this post.

Breaking the Rules (Pushing the Limits #1.5)
Release Date: 12/08/14
Harlequin Teen

Summary from Goodreads:

A summer road trip changes everything in this unforgettable new tale from acclaimed author Katie McGarry.

For new high school graduate Echo Emerson, a summer road trip out west with her boyfriend means getting away and forgetting what makes her so... different. It means seeing cool sights while selling her art at galleries along the way. And most of all, it means almost three months alone with Noah Hutchins, the hot, smart, soul-battered guy who’s never judged her. Echo and Noah share everything — except the one thing Echo’s just not ready for.

But when the source of Echo’s constant nightmares comes back into her life, she has to make some tough decisions about what she really wants — even as foster kid Noah’s search for his last remaining relatives forces them both to confront some serious truths about life, love, and themselves.

Now, with one week left before college orientation, jobs and real life, Echo must decide if Noah's more than the bad-boy fling everyone warned her he'd be. And the last leg of an amazing road trip will turn... seriously epic.

Summary from Goodreads:

Acclaimed author Katie McGarry returns with the knockout new story of two high school seniors who are about to learn what winning really means.

Champion kickboxer Haley swore she'd never set foot in the ring again after one tragic night. But then the guy she can't stop thinking about accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. Suddenly, Haley has to train West Young. All attitude, West is everything Haley promised herself she'd stay away from. Yet he won't last five seconds in the ring without her help.

West is keeping a big secret from Haley. About who he really is. But helping her-fighting for her-is a shot at redemption. Especially since it's his fault his family is falling apart. He can't change the past, but maybe he can change Haley's future.

Hayley and West have agreed to keep their relationship strictly in the ring. But as an unexpected bond forms between them and attraction mocks their best intentions, they'll face their darkest fears and discover love is worth fighting for.

Bonus novella included: Crossing the Line.

Excerpt:

West

Abby’s tennis shoes crunch against the crumbling blacktop and halt at my feet. “Your choice—home, hospital or a place to lay low until you’re ready for one of the first two options. The prize behind curtain C comes with a shower and a change of clothes.”
I dismiss my original answer of no when I notice the blood on my shirt. I can’t go home or to the hospital like this. I can’t do that to my mother.
Using the bumper of my car, I struggle up and hobble to the passenger side as I eye Abby sliding into the driver’s seat. I’m slow getting in, but I’ll be damned if I ask for help.
The interior light dims when I shut the door. Abby fastens her seat belt and wraps her fingers around the steering wheel. “I don’t have my driver’s license.”
“Can you drive?”
“Sure.”
That didn’t sound reassuring. “Just go.”
She doesn’t. “You should buy goldfish.”
“What?”
“For your car. Like build a tank in between your front and back seats. It’d be different and I like different.”
If it will get me to a shower faster…“Okay.”
She smiles. “Really?”
“Sure.”
Abby shifts the car into gear. “And, West?”
I roll my head to look at her.
“I know your mother’s secret.”

I love how Echo molds her body around mine: head on my shoulder, her hair teasing my neck, her arms winding around my chest. I hug her and revel in her warmth.

Review- Crash Into You by Katie McGarry

*This is an early review of Crash Into You by Katie McGarry.
Publication Date- November 26th 2013

Goodreads Summary:

From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane

The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that's who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers...and she's just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can't get him out of her mind.

Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.

But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they'll go to save each other.

REVIEW:

*NOTE: We (The Readdicts) received a copy of Crash Into You by Katie McGarry upon request from Net Galley. We thank Net Galley for the book!

I still remember that tattooed, pierced, hot and bad guy I met in Pushing The Limits. I so wanted him to end up with his best friend but he didn't and I really felt horrible for him in Dare You To
While readers all over the world were swooning over Noah and Ryan, I was desperate for Isaiah to get a story. Then his book finally came, that too one which has a super sexy and super sweet cover. I am so excited that I'll be getting a hardback of it, all thanks to my friend Aman @ Enticed by Books
Isaiah is a seventeen year old foster kid who is one of the most amazing guys I have met in books.
Crash Into You is his story and it's just as amazing as the guy. Isaiah comes with a I don't give a shit and stay away from me attitude but underneath all those tattoos and piercings is an extremely caring, sweet and protective guy made from years and years of strife, heartbreak and pain. His lines were absolutely amazing and his urge to protect his girl and give her the best he could was admirable.
I thought I would have problems with Rachel, who is the female protagonist and Isaiah's love interest, but she was a sweet and nice girl and perfect for Isaiah. There were times when I thought that she didn't need to have all those problems she had, but after reading from Isaiah's point of view, I felt it was necessary for her to have as many problems as possible because Isaiah loves to fix things, protect and never break promises.
Rachel and Isaiah were absolutely perfect and they balanced each other out greatly. Their conversations were extremely adorable yet mature and their chemistry was sizzling. It was such a pleasure to meet Echo, Noah, Beth and Ryan again, as also to meet Rachel's brothers and Isaiah's super cool friend, Abby for the first time.
Rachel and Isaiah's common love for cars tended to drift me off at times since I don't know much about the subject and the book started out real slow. But keeping aside these two negatives, what made me enjoy Crash Into You was author
Katie McGarry's amazing style of portraying her broken and amazing characters. Her writing is so good.
Overall, in the Pushing The Limits series, Crash Into You wasn't as good as Pushing The Limits but it was really better than Dare You To and on it's own, it was an amazing story about two troubled teenagers who find peace and solace in each other's arms and company.

Review- Pushing The Limits by Katie McGarry

Summary-

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.

Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

Review-

Pushing The Limits was a fabulous read for me. I thoroughly enjoyed all the emotions which coursed through me while I was lost in Echo and Noah's world. There was love, pain , laughter, sadness, anger and so many more things. Its like all of them came together in perfect harmony in this book. Some concepts were ones which I had read in previous books but the way they were delivered made it enjoyable all over again.

Echo Emerson went from being a popular girl to a freak after an incident happened one horrible night. No one knows how she got the scars on her arms and she can't remember it. Echo was a really sweet girl. She has already lost her brother Aires and is going through a hell lot of issues. She just wanted to be loved for who she was without all the baggage looming above her head.

Noah Hutchins is a girl using loner. He prefers to be by himself or with his best friends Beth and Isaiah. On the outside Noah came off as a total jerk. But when you actually got to know him all I could feel was heart breaking sadness for him. Life is so not easy for Noah and he doesn't have the time to look out for anyone but himself.

Echo and Noah are both carrying secrets. When they are thrown together in a number of incidents they finally begin understanding each other. Somehow they get each other through all their pain and worries. I loved Echo and Noah's chemistry. It was dark and sultry and seductive. It was addictive. Some lines may have been a little corny for high school students but there was passion behind them. Noah and Echo were characters with a lot of depth.

Pushing The Limits is a book in dual point of view so we know exactly what is going on in Echo and Noah's head. This makes it an all the more rich experience to read. The writing style was swift and easy and precise. Though the book was around 400 pages long I flew through it. It was that engaging. If you're a fan of contemporary reads with romance in it you should definitely give Pushing The Limits a chance.

                  Summary-
No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

" Sometimes when you see the line, you think it's a good idea to cross it - until you do."

"The worst type of crying wasn't the kind everyone could see - the wailing on street corners, the tearing at clothes. No, the worst kind happened when your soul wept and no matter what you did, there was no way to comfort it."

" I saw the world  in black and white instead of the vibrant colors and shades I knew existed."

"  It had been so long since I'd let myself fall for anybody. I gazed into her beautiful green eyes and her fear melted. A shy smile tugged at her lips and at my heart. Fuck me and the rest of the world, I was in love."

" I wanted her to feel what I felt. To revel in the pull, the attraction. Dammit, I wanted her to undeniably love me."

" I love you enough to never make you choose."

Ah, those quotes just make you swoon, don't they? It makes me want to re read Pushing The Limits all over again. Have you read Pushing The Limits? Like it? Let me know. :)
