Review-

It is no secret that I love all Jill Shalvis books. Her books are like comfort reads for me. They always manage to leave me feeling all warm and gooey inside. After her last book in the Cedar Ridge series I was quite excited to get to Jacob's book in Nobody But You. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy Jacob's book as much as I thought I would. It wasn't bad by any means, it just wasn't my favourite of the lot.

Jacob is returning to Cedar Ridge after a long time. He has things to fix with his family and he has missed them. Now only if he could get himself to express it. I liked Jacob. There was nothing really wrong with him. But there was nothing really special about him either. I wanted him to open his eyes and see how much the people around him cared for him. 

Then we have Sophie. Sophie is supposed to be a fierce and fiesty heroine with her vulnerable side. She's lost everything because of her cheating husband, she's broke and she's living on a boat. She wants to make the right decisions for herself now and Jacob seems all kinds of wrong and temporary. I liked Sophie but I never really connected with her.

Sophie and Jacob did have chemistry but there was something missing between them. I can't put my finger on it but I didn't feel like cheering their romance on like I did for Hudson and Bailey. I also feel like I sorta missed out on the entire family bonding time which we got in the last book. Yes, there were things Jacob and Hudson had to work through but we didn't get enough time with the entire Kincaid clan.

The one thing in the book that disappointed me the most though was the lacklustre glimpse we got of Kennedy and Mitch's story. I was expecting a full length book for them, or at least a novella but we got a very incomplete and unsatisfactory ending for them. So while this was not my favourite Jill Shalvis book, it was okay. I would only suggest you try out some other books of hers for the first time.

My Kind of Wonderful is the second book in Jill Shalvis' Cedar Ridge series. After reading the first book in the series I was not entirely convinced that I would love this series as much as I did her Lucky Harbor series but My Kind of Wonderful has proved me wrong. I LOVED this book. It had everything I could ask for in a romance and it left me with a happy feeling.

Let's start with Bailey. Bailey is our heroine. After suffering since she was a teenager she is now in recovery. All Bailey wants to do is live her life to the fullest. Something she wasn't able to do before.  So she has a list and she wants to do everything on it. I LOVED Bailey. She was a sweetheart and such a strong person. Her life had not been easy but she was determined to be happy. Things become interesting when Bailey agrees to paint a mural at Cedar Ridge.

Hudson is our hero. He is overworked and tired but that is the only way he knows how to live. Hud has had a difficult past and especially since his twin left town he has been feeling lonely and incomplete. I loved Hudson. He was such a good man. Protective and fierce, all he wanted was to take care of his loved ones. When Bailey comes into town she brings the laughter and light that is missing in his life.

I loved Bailey and Hud's romance. It was sweet and easy and they gave each other something that the other needed but didn't even know it. I admired Hud because he never saw Bailey as a patient but as a full grown woman. Bailey tries hard to do things and enjoy life to the fullest. It was just amazing to see them together.

I also have become quite fond of the entire Kincaid clan. The siblings are evil and hilarious at the same time. I liked seeing how the previous couple was doing and I'm especially excited to read Jacob's book which is next. I loved My Kind of Wonderful and highly recommend it.

I will read anything Jill Shalvis writes so after saying a bittersweet goodbye to her Lucky Harbor series I was excited to read this new series called Cedar Ridge by her. Second Chance Summer was a good second chance romance for Lily and Aidan and enjoyed the new cast of characters. Second Chance Summer looks to be a promising start to a new series.

Let's start with Lily. Lily left Colorado ten years ago after her sister and father passed away, leaving everything behind. Now, out of options she's back and the one person she doesn't want to face is Aidan. I really liked Lily. She had a horrible past and that is the reason she guarded her heart fiercely. Though the tension between Aidan and her was there for everyone to see Lily didn't give in to her feelings easily.

Then we have Aidan. Aidan is a rescue worker and a firefighter. He likes to live by his own rules but the one person he hasn't ever been able to forget is Lily. I really liked Aidan too. He was protective of his family and all he wanted to do was help Lily. Aidan didn't want to get too emotionally involved because he thought things are temporary but of course, things don't go according to plan.

There are a few misunderstandings between Lily and Aidan and they are both not that great at communication. But still they had chemistry. There were so many unresolved feelings between them and they do take their sweet time trusting each other. But it all works out in the end.

I enjoyed the some what complicated dynamics between Aidan and his family. A nice base was created in this book so I am definitely looking forward to the next book which will be Aidan's brother's. I am actually hoping every one of the siblings gets a book. If you like heart warming contemporary romances Second Chance Summer is the book for you.
