*NOTE: This post has my short reviews for the first two books in the Snark And Circumstance series Snark And Circumstance (Snark And Circumstance #1) and Charm And Consequence (Snark And Circumstance #2) respectively, by author Stephanie Wardrop.
Goodreads Summary (Snark And Circumstance):
One superior smirk from Michael Endicott convinces sixteen-year-old Georgia Barrett that the Devil wears Polo. His family may have founded the postcard-perfect New England town they live in, but Georgia’s not impressed. Even if he is smart, good looking, and can return Georgia’s barbs as deftly as he returns serves on his family’s tennis courts. After all, if Michael actually thinks she refuses to participate in lab dissections just to mess with his grade, he’s a little too sure that he’s the center of the universe. Could there be more to Michael Endicott than smirks and sarcasm? If Georgia can cut the snark long enough, she just might find out.
Snark and Circumstance is the first title in the Snark and Circumstance series of young adult romance novellas from Stephanie Wardrop. First title available 2.5.13.
REVIEW:
In 2012, I read a lot of short stories and novellas that ended up adding many books to my read shelf by means of which I overdid my reading goal. Then when the blog came up, these type of books took a backseat until I won author Stephanie Wardrop's books Snark And Circumstance and Charm And Consequence in a giveaway. The author and I had a fun time chatting till the time the books got to me.
So anyways, to the book. Unlike most readers, I do enjoy reading short stories but like most of them, I feel that they're too short. But that's the point of calling them a short story.
Snark And Circumstance, the first book in the Snark And Circumstance series, was an enjoyable read about a high school student Georgia. Her thought process and intelligence are a bit higher than what you'd expect from a high schooler. She is assigned as partners with Michael in a couple of her classes and the two share a kind of a love hate relationship. Her sisters at home are a bunch of crazy but fun and different people and I enjoyed reading the family scenes.
Being a novella- a really really short one at that, I can't say much about the story. It was like reading an episode of one of those teenage shows they'd broadcast on Disney when we were young. There wasn't much happening, but Georgia's point of view was nicely written by the author and overall, this was a lukewarm but enjoyable hour long read.

Goodreads Summary (Charm And Consequence):
Sixteen-year-old Georgia Barrett is no expert on guys, but her bio-class partner is harder to dissect than anything in their lab tray. He’s smart, almost as sarcastic as she is, and cute in that preppie way. Things are great . . . until he decides her vegan activism is ridiculous and suddenly can’t refuse a date with her fast enough. So why does he show up at her door, interested in learning how to make tofu ricotta? And why does he seem so upset that a senior hottie has taken an interest in her? Could he be interested in Georgia after all?
REVIEW:
Charm And Consequence is the second book in author Stephanie Wardrop's Snark and Circumstance series. This book continues from the first book and if you're going to give these books a try, I'd suggest you definitely read the first one before.
Georgia, the MC, is still is high school and she's actually doing good unless you count the fact that all her sisters seem to be doing great with boys while she is just lagging behind. She meets a few boys here and there, for eg., her friends at school, her partner in some of her classes Michael and this new guy Jeremy who she meets and kind of likes. Well, there are times when you get a feeling who the MC is going to end up with in terms of lovers and my bet is on Michael. He and Georgia are really good for one another but we don't really get to know that because this book, like it's prequel, ended quite suddenly without any specific hindsight.
I really wish there's more to come in this series, because honestly, it's good. The writing is good, the story is good, the set up is good and the characters are good too. It's just that the space given isn't enough. And I still don't get the point of the books.
I'd suggest these books for quick reads when you're somewhere out alone in a public place waiting for something- those moments when you just need any book to keep you occupied until it's your turn to do what you have to do or maybe read it on a lazy Sunday like I did.
