Review- Axel by Harper Sloan

Summary-

Fate hasn’t always been friends with Isabelle West. In fact, fate has been a downright bitch.

Isabelle has learned the hard way how hard life can be when fate isn’t by your side. It can hand you dreams on silver platters, but it can snatch them right back and hand you nightmares. One thing Isabelle knew for sure fate was consistent with was taking away everything she ever loved.

For the last two years Isabelle has been slowly clearing the clouds of her past. Happiness is finally on the horizon. She has a thriving business, great friends, and her life back. All she has to do is jump over the last hurdle…her ex-husband.

When problems start causing her to fear her new life, and memories that are better left forgotten start rushing to the surface the last thing she needs is a ghost from her past to come knocking on her door.

Axel never thought he would look into the eyes of Isabelle West again, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to now. He’s carried his anger for so long he isn’t sure he can just turn it off, but when he is faced with protecting her and an unexpected desire to have her again, life gets a little more complicated.

How will Axel and Isabelle deal when all their cards are put on the table and everything they thought was true blows up in their faces?

Review-

Axel seemed like a sexy read and I was in the mood for one. It was a hot read but the characters irritated me a bit at times. It just felt a little silly but over all the romance was good and enjoyable. Even if the book was predictable and everyone knew what was happening except for the very clueless main characters.

It starts off with Isabelle, our heroine, being abused by her husband. Isabelle knows she's made a big mistake by marrying him and this final incident gives her the courage to leave him. Fast forward to two years later. Izzy has moved on and is trying to enjoy her life but her past is rearing its ugly head in. To top it off she comes face to face with Axel, who she thought was dead.

Izzy plain frustrated me. I get that she was abused and very hesitant to start anything with Axel but her willingness to trust anyone and everyone except him irritated me. It didn't help that Axel was a dick to her, calling her a bitch every single time. The misunderstandings between them were really dumb and could've easily been resolved with one conversation. Communicate, people.

Axel, was the typical hot headed alpha male. But as the book goes on his devotion to Izzy becomes clear. The romance between Axel and Izzy was hot. They really did get each other and there was a ton of sexual chemistry between them. There was a possessiveness in their relationship which could not be diminished even with time. By the end of it, finally, everything fell into place for them.

We also get to meet the whole team from Corps Security. They form a pretty typical brotherhood type bunch with Greg as the best friend, Maddox as the silent type, Coop as the player and Beck as the mysterious guy. And yeah, we'll be getting books for all of them which I know I'll end up reading anyways. Fans of contemporary romance can go for this predictable yet hot romance.
